You advised that you have the same problem. I was able to fix the problem by using the process as advised by avid imps.

Press system on your Philips control, which will bring up the system menu.

Arrow down until you show "SYSTEM MENU EXIT" at the top of the screen.

Enter 2960, which will show Region Code Then change the region code to Region Free.

This will as I have completed this process again while typing this Solution for you.

    Thanks

Sounds like you are trying to play a DVD of a different region to that of the player.

Worldwide region codes, sumarised:

1 - US / Canada

2 - Europe

3 - Asia

4 - Australia

5 - Africa

6 - China

You can change the region code of the DVDR520H to any region or use region 0, which makes the unit multi-region to play DVDs from any region.

  1. Go into the main menu
  2. Highlight the exit button
  3. Type 2960

This should give you access to a hidden menu form where you can change the region code.

I have a funai DP170FX4 and it won't let me play a DVD it keeps saying incorrect region. What do I do.

You could change the region code on the DVD player to match the code on the DVD. However, then all your other DVDs will come up with invalid region code information when you try to use them. And you can only change the region code a set number of times before it locks in and cannot be changes further. Or you can obtain the DVD you want to watch in your region.

Region code

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China

There are computer programs capable of remove the region code from a DVD, but the result should be burned on a new DVD. Most players don't allow a change in the region code more than once. So on your player nothing to hack. Sorry

For all other options, please use Google.

DVD's that I have palyed before not playing and DVD players says "Region Error"

Your DVD player's Region code has been changed and now it does not match the Region code on thr DVD disc/s.
To changethe Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware -Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVDdrive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have beenmade.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the4th change.
If you want to play DVD from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmwareto make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrongfirmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece ofsoftware that allows you to play DVDs from any region. There are severalavailable on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free From: -

Is there a code to change a Thomson TV DVD combo to multi region - Model L26D?

In a word....NO.

Only DVD's themselves can be multi-region (region code 0).

I always advise on this site that you NEVER change the region code on your DVD player! Here is why....

To prevent DVD copy piracy, every DVD player from EVERY manufacturer allows (if it is allowed at all) only TWO changes to the region code. A third attempt to change the region code permanently locks the player and turns it into a paperweight.

If you happen to be the rare exception to the rule.... that you have moved to a new place that requires you to change the region code to view locally purchased DVD's, then by all means change it ONCE to be able to use your DVD player. Please remember that you can only change it one more time after that though! You will unfortunately not be able to watch DVD's that are from your old region.

DVD drive ''Free'' Region code does not play Region 1 DVD

You cannot see region 1 movies unless you change the region code, its designed this way as an anti piracy measure.
