Check whether the printer has been properly connected to the system. If you are using the USB printer, then check the USB port status and USB drivers installed. For this go to device manager and check the USB status. Still you are facing the problem, need to reinstall the printer driver will resolve your problem.

Revert back for more assistance.

Have not got manual for the lexmark interpret s405, so do not understanding controls. Also the printer keeps printing cannot stop it?


You can access the User's Guide from your computer. Just click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > View User's Guide.

If your printer keeps on printing the same document, there might be a lot of print jobs in your queue. You might have sent the same print jobs when you were getting the communication error. Just click on Start > Printers and Faxes > Double click on the Lexmark icon and clear the print jobs in the queue.

If you're frequently experiencing problems communicating with your Lexmark printer, if your printer is connected to your network, make sure that it's getting a good signal from the router. It may not be an actual problem with your printer. The two things that cause most Communication Errors are a failing Printer Cable and corrupted Printer Drivers. Problems in your actual Computer System [bad software, hardware problems, incorrect settings, etc], can also cause communication errors. You can delete your old drivers and download the latest available drivers.Bad or corrupted drivers can cause many problems. "DEINSTALL" [remove] your old drivers/printer first and then reload drivers.

Reset printer and hope it works.

I have just connected a model X5490 to my computer.I keep getting the message that the computer is not communicating with the printer. My compter keeps flashing something that the firewall is blocking the...


It might be firewall, or in my case I was connected to my office over VPN. VPN connection from my PC blocked printer communication. Disconnected VPN and it started working.

I keep getting a message about usb port missing


Hi hbailey10,

It sounds to me as though the USB port simply got reset and so it isn't communicating both ways (this can sometimes happen if you plug in or unplug a difference device in a nearby USB port). Here is my advice:

1) Try disconnecting the USB cable from your computer, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.
2) If you still get the same error messagem then the problem is software-related, not hardware-related. You might try uninstalling and re-installing the driver for the printer. In the event that you don't have the disk from your printer handy, you can download the driver from the following web address:

http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi

If you still receive an error message, try to get the exact wording that we can figure out what's causing it.

Printer and computer not communicating


sorry my printer is lexmark 1200 series, tried restarting,unplugging usb, power supply to printer but keeps just sayin printer not communicating with computer
