Question about Proscan 19LA20Q LCD TV

1 Answer

Won't turn on. It is plugged in. When you press the on/off button, you only get a red light that flashes. Don't know anything about tv's, but took it apart anyway. Every thing was connected, but how do you decide if you have a bad board in there.

There is no bloated capacitors, so now what should look for, the red light doesn't go off and when you press on/off it just blinks

  • tjj0 Feb 03, 2010

Do these sets get to hot? I was only using it for a monitor on a computer, because it didn't have a remote with it...maybe I should save my headaches and pitch it in the recycle bend!

Look for bloated capacitors in a power supply. find any? replace and you should be allright. there is no loose connection issues at those sets. only the parts involved, due to inadequate ventilation.
good luck.

unfortunately, 19" sets are quite packed and there is no adequate ventilation, especially tho the main board, enclosed in shielding. I had many issues with small size LCD tvs, concerning faulty main boards.
That means: it's a dud. Only power supply could be fixed, due to capacitor failure. Haven't found ones? where did you look? power supply is the one with power cord or plug. not the one with bunch of plugs for external sources or tuner on it. Take another good look: caps are bloated only on top, if you may know. but, some of those might look ok, but losing the capacitance. you need to have ECR meter to find the one. anyway, I'd check the "shop at jimmy's" web site for any used parts.
    Good luck.
    Alex.

Motorola DCT700 won't power up.

its working correct... thats sounds normal

now you just need to wake it up. turn it on using the remote supplied by your cabe operator. if anything it may be your remote that isn't working. does a "cbl" light or anything light up on the remote when you press the cable box power button? if not try to find out how to put it in cable mode and try again.

wish i had more info

good luck

** TV won't turn on.** No picture or sound. Please Help !

If the red light won't come on it is not getting power.First, try plugging it in to a different outlet,or unplug one of the gadgets you know is working and plug the tv in there. You are simply switching. If you know that there is power coming from the outlet and it still won't come on then you'll have to check the cord;don't go much farther than that without expert help.

Sony Bravia KDL-55EX500 flashing green and yellow light, an won't turn on. Any suggestions?

you guys are going to love me. lol. i figured it out at least for mine. $ )
1.start by unplugging the tv and everything plugged into it(make sure the only thing plugged into the tv is the power cord).
2. next plug in the usb flash drive with the update or a compatible version of the firmware.

3. now while holding down the up arrow button on the tv remote, plug in the tv and keep holding the up arrow while pressing and holding the power button on the side on the tv until you see the light on the tv go from solid green to solid red and yellow flashing lights. once you see this just sit back and wait a few min for it to force the update and it should turn on when its done.

let me know if this works for you as well or if you need any clarification. also know that step three is a pain to do alone and must be all done within a short period of time preferably at the same time.

Won't program to our new TCL television - we have the 222 receiver

I don't show we have a code for the TCL (Australia) brand TV. Below I have provided instructions on how to perform a power scan.

  • Remote: Basic Remote (Television Only)
    1. Turn the Television On.
    2. Press and hold the clear TV button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
    3. Press and release the red TV Power button.
    4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off.
    5. After the television turns off, press and release the # button.
    6. Test functionality with the TV.
    7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

Sony bravia tv

Solution is simple....

First, unplug power cable from the back of your TV. You will notice the flashing light is still flashing. Don't worry, go to the Second step.

Second, keep pressing on the POWER button, located on the panel at the top of your TV, to shut off your TV. This will stop the flashing light from appearing.

Third, Plug the power cable back onto your TV

Fourth, press the POWER botton ONCE, using the same button used in the Second step to turn your TV back on.

Fifth, you will see the POWER light comes on, as normal.

Sixth, using your remote control, press the green button to turn on. Your TV should work as normal.

this is from your producer: Product Description ? BASIC OPERATION OK ? everyone knows what a handheld remote control unit does for your home electronics. You can control your basic four (4) components: TV, DVD player, VHS player, Cable or Satellite tuner. Setup is simple for these basic 4? put in the batteries, look up the manufacturer of your component (Mitsubishi TV) and note the possible 3-digit ?program codes?? turn on the component, press the remote control?s PROGRAM button until the light stays red, press the component button (i.e., TV), enter in the ?program code?, and press the ?power off button? ? if the component (i.e., TV) turns off: you are programmed! If the component (i.e., TV) doesn?t turn off, then repeat the sequence using another of the manufacturer?s program codes until it does. Easy ? took me about 3 minutes to program my old Zenith TV (in the bedroom), my SONY DVD player, and my Mitsubishi S-VHS player. No problems at all. HOWEVER, in case you do run into a component for which the ?program codes? don?t work? you can go through a sequence to self-identify the coding. While I won?t go into it here, it is only slightly more time consuming than the other method. As my codes worked fine, I can not address this aspect, so I won?t make a claim we didn?t test.
