My laptop won't boot. The power button turns on, but the screen remains black.

try to power up the laptop on ac power only. if there are times when it boots, you have a problem with the motherboard. it doesn't receive the so called "ok" signal from the cpu. try to send it to warrany. i hope the information will be useful

It is issue with the screen cable connection. Replace it. or it is getting chaffed and causing issue in proper signal and power to the screen. It is hardware issue.

Toshiba A75 Wont Boot up

It sounds like you may not have made a good connection to the motherboard from the screen when you put everything back together.

When you press the power button does the screen come on and then go off or does it not come on at all ?

If it comes on then turns off try to eject the CD-Rom that will be a definitive test of whether your power is still on, assuming your cd-rom is not totally mechanical.
