I've already been all over Sony's site...this is not the driver.

  • tpsperry Feb 03, 2010

To be honest, I have no idea. All I know is it is a VGN-A690/Model:PCG-8S4L. Everything looks fine in device manager, but I see no bluetooth device. I loaded the Registry patch off of Sony's site, but it appears to do nothing if the driver isn't loaded. Supposedly this machine has bluetooth and as far as I can tell, if it does I should just need the driver for it. Don't know much about bluetooth so I am not sure if it shares the same hardware as my WiFi or what.

I really appreciate all of your help, but it's starting to seem that it does not have bluetooth as Sony confirmed for me. I tried that app you suggested and got optomitic as it loaded no problem...couldn't find a device after reboot and launching it. I'll just get a $20 usb adapter and stay away from Sony and their lack of support. Thanks again for your help though!!

It's NOT? Oh I C, Well what is the exact type of Bluetooth do you have onboard? OK I often use bluesoleil ... It nearly always works give it a go.

  • electronic & computer repair& servicre

Do you have it switched ON? There are usually Buttons to enable/disable it? IF you don't have these maybe you DO NOT have bluetooth, as usually you see your bluetooth adapter in Device manager no matter what,. It may have a yellow exclamation mark. But still be there?

  • electronic & computer repair& servicre

Yea YOU DO NOT have it built in it seems.. Wacko for the Dongle then.

The issue is with sony. I bought a vaio vfgn-ar350e and nothing but problems since day one. Wish i never bought a sony and never will. i got it with no drestore disks, no hidden repair partition and half tyhe things stopped working. I have built in wi fi and bluetooth but has ve yet to be able to get the bluetooth to work on it. I see all the blue tooth items in the DM and I have my switch on and I have loaded the drivers and the toshiba blue tooth stacks several times but in my bluetooth option in control panel it never sees any item I put in discovery mode. Sony as stated is worthless they refuse to help. They have a 15 minute free support policy now but they make sure it takes all 15 minutes to get your name and model number then you ask your question and they say time up you can pay for help now...Stay away from sony Im thinking a class action law suit may be in order as I see these vaios have tons of issues that sony is ignoring

How can I get a recovery disc for a vaio vgn-ar320e laptop

For a factory reset there are two installation options:
C:\ drive recovery
System recovery

System recovery will rebuild the partition. C drive recovery will simply re install the C drive on the active partition. When you do full system recovery we create a hidden partition that is read only. this gives you the F10 boot-able recovery partition tools.hit f-10 on boot up

I am having VGN 23G and it came with Vista Home Premium. Right now im using window 7. The os's is working properly. Due to 1GB of RAM using vista is a bit frustrating . All the drivers for VAIO VGN 23G...

All the VAIO Computers will be shipped with the Recovery partition in the Hard Drive. If the Hard Drive is not completely formatted, you can access the Recovery partition by pressing the F10 key for 5 to 10 seconds when the VAIO logo appears.

If you're able to access the Recovery partition, then select Restore C Drive option to restore the Computer back to the factory settings.
Let me inform you how to check the if Recovery partition is available.

Press windows+R key and type diskmgmt.msc and check if you're able to view EISA partition. If EISA partition is there, then the Recovery partition is available and you can access by pressing the F10 key at start-up.
If the EISA partition is not there, then the partition is deleted, then you can purchase the Recovery Discs for your Computer which may cost $15 to $35.

You will need a good disk recovery software. These utilities do come at a price. Email disk recovery experts such as Recover Data or Sony Vaio data recovery if they can help you.

Xp recovery

You need to download all the drivers installer files from manufacturer website first, and also all the software you want to install automatically with Windows. Then you build a Windows Xp boot CD with all the software setup embedded.

If you are using the Preinstalled version of Windows using the Recovery Disks or Recovery partition, you should be having the Bluetooth drivers.
However, you can download the drivers for the Bluetooth Hardware in your Notebook from the links provided below for Vista and XP :

Bluetooth hardware drivers for Vista :

Note : If the Notebook is not having a Bluetooth hardware and by installing the Drivers, you may find a Bluetooth icon in the Taskbar and this doesnot mean that you have Bluetooth hardware in the Notebook

Does the fj270 recovery disk from ebay make the computer like new with a blank harddrive?

I am assuming you are going back to XP?
You will run into one major problem with this process, Vista is based of Windows NT which uses a NTFS file system. XP uses the old file system of FAT32, so just wiping the hard drive probably won't work. You will have to go into your partition and re-partition your hard drive before you intall the recovery disk.
If the recovery disk is designed for your computer then yes it will restore it to all factory defaults (including drivers and software that originally came with it.
If you are not sure how to do the partition then let me know I will try to guide you through it.

I am unable to reinstall my windows copy

Have you created the Recovery CD's? If so, put the recovery CD in the disc drive and restart your machine. Most notebooks start from CD first and then from hard drive. If not, you could change that in it's BIOS. (Press F10 at the moment you see the HP Invent logo).

When the disc boots it allows you to choose from multiple options. Choose the options that sounds like "Restore factory defaults" or something like it.

The D-partition is only used to create the disc and hold info. There is no software there to run for recovery.

I hope this helps, if you need more help just ask.
I work at a company who is an HP Partner so.
