Fastest way to check this is to disconnect all speaker wires from the unit leaving the video hooked up and play a disc. If it keeps playing fine, you have a speaker or wire problem. If it still reacts the same, it's an internal problem and would need to be serviced. If the unit continues to play, post a reply and I will describe in detail how to troubleshoot the system. Hope this helps

My Samsung HT-DM550 shows "lock"


Be careful to do this with AC cable disconnected from AC outlet! If you have some experience with electronics, disconnect the wired plugs from power supply and discharge electrolitic capacitors to ground with a 330 ohm 1 watt resistor. Then reconnect the wired plugs. Be careful to do this with AC cable disconnected from AC outlet! Then connect to AC outlet and turn on the DVD player. You will see that DVD player restores to normal operation again.

Our amplifare of model number-AVR1550 has a problem that when the power is switched on, within few seconds it gets switch off by its own


Try disconnecting the speaker wiring in the back of the unit, and then testing it. If it turns on and stays on without the speaker wiring disconnected, then reconnect one speaker at the time until the condition repeats itself, and then you'll be able to find the problem wire.

What's most likely happening is that one of the speaker wires has become shorted, either by being disconnected at the speaker end, or not being cleanly connected at the receiver's end. It happens all the time.

Checking the speaker cabling for any shortcuts and eventually disconnecting all cables did not solve the problem.
So you opened the case and disconnected the pcb where the speaker outputconnectors are soldered to. This small board also had the speaker on/off relais (light blue). you should disconnected the main connector (white) from the main pcb and turned the amplifier on again: problem of 'protect; will be solved ....
So you should checked for short cuts in the pcb, removed the dust and made sure the wires (red black black white) were not touching eachother; the isolation can be damaged by the internal heat and the wires are routed so that they touch internal components.
After reconnecting the main connector the receiver should be okay...

I have a bose Lifestyle Series II System which i have enjoyed for years. My son recently tried to hook his I-Pod to it. now i cannot get it to work. Any ideas?


Hi.

The system may have gone on protect mode after detecting a problem.

Try disconnecting the power cord from both subwoofer/amp (Acoustimass), and from main control unit.

While the two units are disconnected, check the control cable from main unit to subvoofer, and check all the speakers connections.

Leave system disconnected for about fifteen minutes, then connect back first control cable, then power to Acoustimass (keep it off) and finally, power to control unit. Turn everything on and see if the system is starting.

If the system is still not starting, then there is an internal fault. In that case call Bose at the number listed on the owners manual.

CD/DVD PROTECTION THEN SHUTS DOWN


I have this problem with a Samsung HT-TZ325 and I disconnected all the speakers and isolated the problem to rear right speaker I now disconnect this plug prior to switching on the system . I then reconnect the speaker (rear right)

1. See if the rear speakers were pressed disable thru
your controls (either remote or in board). Just
press enable, to let it function.
2. If thedefect is still there, check the wires going to
the rear speakers if this is disconnected,
especially for plug on type. Open the plugon
connector and see the soldered wire at the
terminal. This could be disconnected. Have re-
soldered, and replace the plugon connector .
3. Then, power it up, and see if it works.

Yamaha rxv-992 receiver wont power up


Disconnect all your speakers from the receiver. Turn the power on, and see if it stays on. If the unit shuts off with all the speakers disconnected, then you most likely have a faulty unit, and it will need to be repaired or replaced.

If the unit stays on with all the speakers disconnected, then you most likely have a bad speaker or a bad connection with the speaker wire.

Starting with one speaker, hook it up, and turn the unit on, and again see if the unit stays on, or if it shuts off. Do this until the unit shuts off when you connect a speaker.

Then disconnect all the other speakers, and leave the suspect speaker attached. Again, try to power up the unit. If it fails with that speaker attached, but works when it is not attached, then that speaker is your problem.
