did you check the resisters? when you replaced the ic's?

you will need to check the resisters. IC's typically don't show when they are bad, if you have a bad resister it can blow the ic out again..

1 each of the following 1Watt axial lead fusible resistors:

    1.5, 1.8, 2.2, 2.7, 3.3, 3.9 Ohms.
just lift one side of each resister and check them, on my set three of them were located by the yoke plug.

I have a problem with the magic focus button I get a green light on the left hand top corner of the TV with a number 3 in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. The solution is a convergence circuit...

hello, it's not just about changing the convergance ic also you will have to test the resistor in front of the chip and the capacitor at either end you will have to desolder 1 end of the resistor so you get a proper reading on the multimeter also you will need a esr meter to test capacitors and good desoldering and soldering skills, i'm not trying to put you off just explaining what is needed, make sure the power off good and luck be safe

Color and Image are Bad!

Convergence IC's are bad or poor solder connection, IC's are large chips with heatsink mounted to them, re solder them to board, if not fixed replace IC's, should be 392-110s, but check them number is on the IC itself.

Hitachi tv magic focus does not work

Your problem is the convergence circuit. This is very common in CRT projection sets like yours. There are a couple of IC's that need to be changed and possibly some resistors. A good repair shop will run you $400-$500 to do the repair.

Here is the schematic diagram. Download all the 13 parts and unzip them using winrar.
The parts you need are listed on page # 50 of the schematic diagram.
You will find the ICs HERE.
Make sure you check the fuses and micro/pico fuse nearby the ICs, as well some crystallized solder joints.
Good Luck.

Out of focus

Rach, if it doesn`t move from green to red to blue in Magic Focus then there is a problem with the convergence IC`s and probably one or more support resisters. These components will have to be replaced, questions? ask away, BMW Rider

Convergence problem

I had the same problem sounds identical. My warranty was up in a couple weeks when this happened so they came out and fixed it. They replaced the red converter IC. However just recently the blue and green is acting up??? My warranty is up now so thats a bummer.
