Problem for Cellular Phones

Generic problem for all Cellular Phones

Samsung HT-X70 DVD player

When playing a DVD, the dark scenes "flicker" between dark and VERY dark. It is almost muted at times. This does not happen to the digital cable system which is run as an HDMI pass through the unit so I know it is not the cable signal or the Sharp Aquos HDTV. It only happens when there is a DVD playing. The light scenes are fine. Any ideas?

i have this system set up to a sony bravia kdl40v2500 tv and sometimes when playing a dvd the screen will go blank and in the corner 1080i will show. I do not know how to change the resolution and does this need to be done on dvd player or tv. Can you help me.
