I too have a World products CCS/5, but, for some reason, after I emptied out the shreddings box, once I finally got it lined up so it would operate, I heard a clicking sound that only stops when I slide the red plastic "key" out just enough that it stops. What is wrong there?

Hello. your shredder is discontinued. Although you could possibly find a motor for it, you may be better off just going to staples and finding a new one that meets your needs. Regards, Joe

Staples SPL QW1200 shredder - how to disassemble it to get full access to blades?

remove the bin, remove thr screws that hold the bottom on (to get the cord free) then flip it over so its sitting on top remove the screws around the side walls to the top and remove the top shredder. with the shredder still up side down there are 8 screws around the outside edge (in the 1/4 holes) remove those and you can seprate the housing from the blades and motor. in the one i have the blades in the center are bent and the guides are broke i am looking for replacement parts or another for spare parts good luck i am a automotive tech, and i hate to throw things out just because ond small small part is broke but the hardest thing is finding parts. we live in a world where we are in couraged to reclye but we throw so much away because it is almost imposible to find parts or when you do the replacment parts cost more than a new one. sorry for the rant but i like to see people trying to fix things

My paper shreder light comes on and cut off frequently it is a paper mate PM-1550CD it is not working what do I do?

Hi, this is usually caused by either a jammed up motor, blown motor or a faulty power supply, either external or internal or both. If one is handy, these may be disassembled and the problem sorted out, either by un-jammimg the motor if jammed or replacement if burnt out, the PSU needs to be checked for volts out, If the Voltage of the external supply, if used, is OK, then suspect the internal PSU, the external unit can be replaced with any suitable same Voltage Current rating a power supply is a power supply as long as polarity is right you are all good.
However most often these types of units are beyond economic repair? Still there is never any harm if one doesn't wish to DIY to get a free "Quote" for repair from a suitable repair shop and go from there?

No longer shreds. Probably overloaded. Looking

The punching holes/not shredding problem is caused by a collar that encapsulates the cutter shaft ends. Vibration causes the collar to fall off and the shafts to spread apart. The fix is to pull the paper bin out, remove the 5 screws holding the top assy., and pull off the top. You'll see the collar and the screws will be somewhere in the paper. Replace the collar and tighten all the screws at each end of the shredder assy.

The machine had a serious jam, jam cleared now the motor runs very slow

The jam probably caused the motor to starin at turning, which would cause it to heat up, and the insulation in the winding partly melted, shorting out a winding or two, which makes the motor run slower. Eventually, the winding will 'melt-down', and the motor will not work at all. Smoke, a burnt smell, and possibly a tripped circuit breaker will be the best indication this is happening, or about to happen.
