SOURCE: out side unit will not go into defrost cycle

most likely a bad temp sensor on the outdoor coil. you are seeing ice so its cold enough to defrost but the sensor is not seeing ice so it doesn't. usually a generic 3/8 or 1/2 clamp on sensor will fix. you can freeze the sensor with a little r22 and it should close and fall into defrost or jump it and it has to proof closed and the unit should defrost. if you jump it you may have to speed up the board to diagnose. usually jumping test pins together throws it into a 5 sec in 20 seconds out cycle. kind of like turning a 24 hour days into 24 seconds. or to protect the board you can just find the sensor pull it, replace it and watch what happens next cold night. good luck

What does auto defrost setting on HB Elite slow cooker do? I can't find it referenced anywhere!

Auto defrost is an advanced heating temperature setting for frozen meat or veg. Since the average person simply places fresh unfrozen food into the cookers, they set the time and temp for the desired food preparation.
You have a cooker that allows you to put frozen foods in the cooker and heat fast to defrost and then go on the do a full cooking thereafter.

Very cold outside. The filter and operation buttons are flashing. We changed the battery in the remote. Lights continue to flash.

defrost outdoor unit, quickest way put unit onto full cooling inside and it will send hot gas to outdoor unit, once unit is clear operate as required the cause of this could be a gas issue fan motor issue.a sensor not sensing correctly and not putting unit in to defrost or infact unit is far to small for area it's serving, set temperature to a manageable temperature not all the way up to the max and see how this goes, if it persists gas charge on unit should be checked to see if there is a leak. And fan should be checked to ensure correct operation.

Ambiance 16 seer unit frozen

This sounds like a heat pump. If so, it sounds that the unit is not staying in the defrost mode. Heat pumps have a temp sensor so when the outdoor unit goes into a defrost mode, this temp sensor takes it out of the defrost mode when the temp reaches a set point to ensure there is no more frost. Usually about 51 degrees as a general rule. I would start there.

unit is or may be frozen up ck the back of freezer wall and if iced up then either the heaters have failed or the main board in not controling the defrost cycle .. mm it sounds like your getting some cold so i think the heaters have failed . ..

How do i clean my fridge that is not self defrost and when did they stop making them

switch off at plug, open door and let the unit self defrost(do not use sharp objects or hot water/steam to hasten defrost)
when defrosted wipe out with clorine bleach, syringe drain hole(s) and wipe dry,the bleach smell will dissipate in about an hour, then close door, switch on and fill at least 1/2 full(any less and the unit will run very ineficiently)leave door closed as much as poss until temp is between +2c/+5c(the ideal temp)ensure all seals are clean and not perished.

My outside heat unit is frozen and it is 10 degrees out, will it thaw while I have it on emergency heat? How long do I keep emergency heat on?

Switching to emergency heat will not defrost the unit.

If the Heat pump is malfunctioning, continue to use the emergency heat until the unit can be repaired properly.

At ten degrees, no heat pump can keep up., but it should be automatically bringing on the heat strips as back up heat. (same thing as emergency heat, it's just automatic.)

Either the extreme cold is overloading the defrost system, due to lack of properly operating exterior temp sensors or the defrost is malfunctioning,

Frige problem

This is almost a word for word common problem. On frost free fridge freezers of this type all cooling is generated through the freezer side and is merely forced into the fridge side through airflow. Therefore if you have a problem with the fridge you have a problem with the freezer section. The most likely cause is that the coil is frozen up. We would always suggest defrosting unit overnight in case it was simply a door left ajar being the cause of the fault. If the unit then pulls the fridge temp down and it was not the door ajar then you probably have a defrost problem (heater or defrost thermostat, or defrost timer). If it fails to pull the fridge temp down on restarting then it could be the fan or part of the defrost circuit or even possible the cooling circuit. The normal outcome after defrosting is that the temp will drop in the fridge due to air circulation improved, which will probably remain cool for 2-3 weeks until the coil becomes frozen again. On either result I would contact an engineer on the 2nd failure occurrs so that the engineer can establish the exact cause. Hope this helps.
