Hi,
If you hear any beep sound then the rams are defective or the graphics card seems to be defective. You can remove the cmos battery for five min. then try to power on the pc if it did not help then repair the board.

Reset the CMOS setup after putting the battery. You have 768MB RAM. So check with the alternate memory module with different slots. If not helpful, check the RAM with another PC. Lastly get the BIOS updated or motherboard repaired from component level motherboard repairer. You may have damaged the motherboard by putting undue pressure while plugging the connectors.

When power on sometimes no display nothing. remove all cables and cmos battery nothing . other day power on normal and no present problem long time.

1) Try Replacing your RAM and clean the components inside computer with a blower, don't use brush or cloth to clean.
2) Change your CMOS battery.
3) If the problem sill occurs then your VGA Chipset might be damaged. Try installing a graphics card if the VGA chipset is damaged.
4) Replace the BIOS (Some BIOS can be replaced).

My computer has been running fine for a long time now...all of a sudden it wont keep the time when i turn it off and now when i start the computer it doesnt boot....please helps

You should go replace the CMOS battery, its looks like a button cell flatten out. I don't know about your booting problem, but I think you should try reseating (taking out and putting in) the ram or the Memory Modules. If this doesn't work, you should try reseating the Video Card.

Machine POSTs and boots only after a CMOS reset and a reset of the Date/Time entering and exiting the BIOS. From here on in, it will boot and reboot, unless the power is turned off. Then it must be powered...

It seems as though your BIOS settings are saving correctly, most likely due to a bad CMOS battery. You should replace the battery, you can normally find them near the watch batteries in stores.

Unplug every thing such as the CD/DVD trays, Hard Drive, take out any dial-up modems, network cards, video cards, etc. unplug even the mouse and keyboard. Try powering on agan. If the computer seems to work, then power back off and plug in one device then power on computer. Keep doing that until you find the bad device preventing the computer from turning on.

If that doesnt work then carefully remove the RAM completely then carefully replace the RAM. Now with on the Dynex power supply plugged in to the motherboard, try again. If still nothing, remove the RAM and try again. If it still does the same thing, then the motherboard is dead and needs replaced. If instead you get a series of beeps then the problem MAY be bad RAM. Try different RAM. If that doesnt help. The only thing left is taking out the CMOS battery, It is the coin shaped battery on the motherboard. Take it out and wait 20 seconds then put it back. I doubt it is the CMOS battery, but at this point it is worth a shot.

I have a Gateway w340ua the other day i shut it down properly and todat it will not boot up at all nothing on screen but the dvd rom light comes on ?

Attach a external monitor and reboot -- if it comes up then the LCD on the laptop may be broken / damaged. This is where I would start.

let me know what happens after that.

if still no picture it could mean a bad video card and might need replaced.

Looks like a bad video card/chip or motherboard.

Experts only!!!
Try this:
  1. Power OFF the computer
  2. Remove the battery
  3. Unplug AC
  4. Remove the RAM
  5. Remove the CMOS battery
  6. Press and hold Power ON button for 30 secs. at least
  7. Put back the RAM and the CMOS battery
  8. Put back the battery
  9. Plug back AC
  10. Power ON as normal

If that does not help, remove the hard drive and just boot into BIOS setup.

hey,,

try this,
1.) unplug the system
2.) remove the memory
3.) remove the mainboard battery(cmos battery)
4.) press the power button 5 times
5.) replace the battery
6.) replace the rams
7.) boot it up
8.) enter setup
9.) load defaults then save and exit

if that works then try putting back in the graphics cardm you may need to repeat steps 1 - 9 after installing the graphics card. and pls insure the monitor is connected to the graphics card.

Stopping at the BIOS Splash screen

Hi

Reseat all the RAM, CMOS battery and any PCI graphics cards and then try to boot the computer.

Also remove all the memory cards and then turn on the computer. If you dont get any beep sounds, then it is a problem with 1 or more RAM cards.
Then alternatively try with 1 RAM at a time in different slots and check if it is a problem with any of the RAM cards or the RAM slots.
