Question about HP Photosmart 8250 InkJet Printer
I do not know what you have tried. However the service manual indicates the unit needs service at a repair center if resetting the unit does not work.
The reset steps for the 0x error: with the printer on, unplug the USB cable and then remove the ink cartridges. When the printer displays "insert ink cartridges" remove the power cord from the printer. Wait at least 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord. Turn on the printer (with the power button if needed). Reinsert the ink cartridges and close the doors. If you get a prompt to print a calibration page, do so. Finally reconnect the USB cable and try to print.
Since you purchased the printer in 2006, it is out of warranty. You will have to decide if it is worth it for you to have someone diagnose and fix the problem. I am not in the business and thus cannot advise you of the pricing. The last time I needed to a service call, it was ~ $50 just for the diagnosis.
