This occurs due to the Monitor display cable not connected properly. Please double check the cable from Monitor to the CPU(the main box).
You could also try removing and inserting the cable again.
Please be careful and don't apply excessive pressure as you might break the monitor cable "pins" if inserted wrongly.
This should fix your problem. (Assuming both the CPU and monitor are switched on.)
