I bought a new DV182 off ebay. The instructions that came with it were shakey at best. I bought a memory card for it, but when I put it in the camera, all it does is say welcome. Without the card it seems to work fine other than it wont record without a card. Am I doing something wrong?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
This is a feature and not a defect of the CX-12 that reminds the user that the memory stick inserted might not be able to record the data from the camera effectively. HD video requires a memory stick with a relatively fast data read/write speed, and the CX-12 recommends not using any other stick that is not Mark 2.
Fortunately, though, as you have found out, it does not affect the camera's ability to record in non-Mark 2 sticks.
Hope this helps!
Ok, i don't know if you read it but i have the answer. I bought the same one and i had the same problem. I bought a 2GB SDCard too. It wasnt work... so i was looking for in the Internet, and I saw that this Camera only accept SDCards from 64Mb to 1GB. I tried with a 1GB SDCard and it worked. Good Luck!!
