Hi, You did not mention a model number so I am having to wing it here. I could be of much greater assistance with a Make and Model number.

Generally speaking on most stand alone dryers there is a large felt on the front and back of the drum assy that over time wears out. When that happens you start to get some metal to metal drum to chassis chaffing which is most likely what your hearing.

An upper front seal would look like this:

A lower front seal would look like this:

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-Seal+Drum-%3d%3di1261075c232i456&PartID=456

and the rear cylinder seal would look like this

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-Seal+Drum-%3d%3di1261075c232i1063784&PartID=1063784

all of the above require high temp adhesive

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-Seal+Drum-%3d%3di1261075c232i456i12896&PartID=12896

It is usally the lower front and rear cyl. seal that cause the symptom you describe.

If your going to have this repair done I would also order and belt and roller kit as preventative manitenance due to the fact that you already will have access to those componets and it will extend the working life of your dryer substantially.

Washer/dryer on spin fast but keeps stopping and starting how do I open the door?

If you sure that its not full of water, you should set the program to the stop position, and wait a few mins for the lock to release.

I have a Kenmore elite he5 gas dryer and when it is turned on it will not spin. Can you tell me why?

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings OTHER WISE CHECK FOR A LOOSE WORN BELT

FL code on Washer

FL is a door lock code. open the soap dispenser door, and find the thin flourescent green, or bright red color nylon cord located in the front left or right areas of the dispenser area, this will allow you to manually release the door lock. Empty the washer, close the door and perform another drain and spin cycle, if the door lock still fails, you may need to have the door lock assy replaced, especially if the door lock is making a click, or buzzing soung like it wants to operate, if it's completely quiet than you may need the board replaced...Pleazer Appliance...

Drum knock when spin cycle

Hello.
Noises are common when using a two-in-one washer and dryer, as clicking or whirring is part of the cleaning process during the transition to the next cleaning process. The GE Spacesaver washer and dryer combo uses a top-loading washer stacked beneath the front-loading dryer, and uses an agitator that makes noises throughout the spin cycle. Although whirring or clicking is normal, other noises or malfunction indicates a problem with the washer that requires minor troubleshooting. Professional repair is necessary if the washer continues to experience problems during the spin cycle, as there may be a problem with the washer's agitator.
1 Open the washer's door and check the balance of the load's clothes. Clothes that are unevenly distributed around the agitator cause excessive shaking and result in an imbalance during the spin cycle. Reduce the load's size by removing clothing if the washer's drum is overloaded.
2 Push "Start/Pause" to pause the spin cycle and turn the washer's cycle knob to the "Off" position. Turn the knob to "Spin Only" and press "Start/Pause" to reset the cycle.
3 Turn the wrench counterclockwise or clockwise around the unit's legs to adjust the appliance's balance. The legs are adjustable with the help of a wrench to ensure the unit does not shake while in use. An unleveled unit shakes as it spins, and causes excessive squealing or rattling as it attempts to dry the clothes.
4 Touch "Start/Pause" on the front of the washer's control panel and unplug the washer/dryer unit's power cord from the electric oultlet. Wait two minutes and plug the power cord back into the electric outlet. Push "Start/Pause" to resume the spin cycle.
Thanks.

the very first thing you have to do is to open door, put hand inside washer inner tub and move tub up and down to see if there is "play" in the bearings. if inner tub moves your main bearing is bad dragging and forcing the motor controller to think there is a "unbalance" condition. also make sure you clean the water pump screen. take small round door at the lower right side and remove the screen to clean. then put it back and retest washer. if that dont work then you may have a fulty unbalance switch or motor controller.

good luck to you.

High efficency dryer won't spin-Frigidaire

Try this. Set the timer. Open the door, press and hold the light switch. Rotate the drum by hand then while still holding the light switch turn on the dryer. If it starts then clos the door while removing your finger quickly. If this problem persists it could be the starter on your motor.

Door wont open on my hotpoint aquarius washer/dryer

Turn the dryer dial to off, making sure you can hear it click off, wait 1 min, and then try door. If it will still not open then you may have faulty door lock, or a prob with the door handle.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
