Hi,
Go to Start->Control Panel. Then find the Mouse section (in category view is under Printers and other hardware).
There, go to pointer options and change the mouse pointer speed. This will effectively change the mouse pad sensitivity.

Hi,
You should be able to manage the touchpad (mouse pad) settings by going in to control panel --> Touchpad.(or "Dell Touchpad"). There you would find the touchpad settings where you could adjust the sensitivity for the touchpad.
Please let me know if you face issues finding the settings.
Thanks.

I have a Sony viao laptop. And my mouse on the screen keeps trailing off the screen like its trying to run away and I can't use it as its running away it won't let me mouse the mouse where I want....

You probably have a defective track pad. Use the function keys to turn off the track pad, and then use an external mouse, and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the touchpad drivers from the Sony support website. If that doesn't work, you will need to replace the touchpad.

When my new hp mouse pad locks, how do i unlock it without restarting the computer?

There should be a button above the pad or work your way using the keybord to mouse properties and go to the page that has the name of your track pad and select enable.

old relic COMPAQ LT.

your LT now has 2 mice, and if you run 2 mice what happens
they try to get in a fight.
we must shut off the mouse pad first.
I guess this mouse is a MS mouse, no mouse name stated.

I shut off the mouse pad in device manager.
look for the USB mouse not, is this unstated mouse wireless, if yes a new battery is now needed. and matching usb dongle.
now plug in the mouse. PC goes DING donng.,
and it loads a driver
be in the internet to W7 can find the driver.
if still dead, go to device manager,
see that mouse there under. mice and other pointing devices
mine shows, HID mouse here.
if missing , plug the mouse into all USB ports 1 by one and listen for the DINGDONGg (means new USB device discovered)
if still fails buy a new mouse, gee barrow one for a day.
if that mouse works , trash the dead one.

you can not have 2 mice at same time or you get into trouble.
the old mouse pad , we had to use disable in device manager to kill it.
on the new HP we have newer driver and it has this.

Touch pad faulty and cursor jumps and cannot read emails, or type replies, using external mouse, but cursor will wandering. Less tha one year old.

Clean your Pad with a moist wet tissue and dry.
In Control Panel -> Devices manager -> uninstall the mouse/pad driver and either use detect new plug-and-play hardware via the top of the tree in the device manager listing (eg. you Computer name) context menu or simply reboot to force a new re-install of the driver for your Pad and Mouse and see if it solves the problem.
If your Pad is the Synaptic type, install your Netbook driver for the Pad.
Hope that re-installing the driver and Pad utility solve your issue let me know how you go.
ps. Worst case, your Aspire One should still be under manufacturer warranty.

My mouse pad is locked and i cant use my computer

Hi,

It could be that the drivers are not installed for the pad, or that there is a hardware issue.

I would suggest plugging in a USB mouse which will be picked up by windows and will allow you to be able to navigate around to etermine the root cause of the pad not working.

Check device manager (my computer -> manage-> device manager) to see what the status is on the pad hardware and what drivers it thinks it is using

Hope this helps - if so, please leave feedback. If not pls let me know and I'll try and help some more!

Mouse is not responding at all

you need to go to device manager...
right click "my Computer"
select "manage"
select "device manager"
click the + sign for "mice and other pointing devices"
select your touch pad...

try to enable it or find what is wrong from there

You'll need a USB mouse or something of that ilk to do it.

good luck

To fix mouse pad

Before you dismantle your laptop, check that the pad isn't disabled. Go to control panel and click on Mouse, the mouse pad configuration should be in there. turn it on. also look for it in Device manager (right click on my computer, go to properties) make sure the mouse pad has a driver loaded and it's working.
