Question about Compaq Presario SR5710Y PC Desktop

1 Answer

PC runs slow but I can find no detectable problems. Did a sypware and virus check - none. The machine is not using excess RAM and processor is running fine - not being taxed no big spikes. It takes time to call up files when not even on the internet. The Hard drive is operating ok and since the machine is only about 4 months old it has very little on it. I am stumped. My old PC with less ram and a slower processor ran faster than this heap.

A few questions: 1. How much RAM does your PC have?
    2. Did the problem suddenly appear or was it existing since day 1.
    3. What is the OS? XP or Win7 or Vista?
    3. I totally doubt the processes running in the background. You may want to check all processes and list the unwanted ones.

Click Start-> Run, type msconfig and click Ok. The System Configuration Utility will start. Now click on Startup tab. You will see a list of programs which starts automatically when Windows starts.
In that list, uncheck the program items, which you generally don't use. It will make your computer a little faster.
The above procedure can also be modified a little, that is uncheck all items under Startup tab, restart your computer.
Now check one item at a time, restart computer and test the speed of your computer. This way, you will find the programs, which are making the computer show. Remember to use a pen and paper to take a note about which items you are selecting or unselecting.

Please try one more thing:

Open Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> System. Click on Advanced tab. Under Performance, click on Settings, click on Adjust for best performance, click Apply and Ok.

Then do this Click->Start->Programes->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Clean Up and select the C:Drive and clean it

Sir, i have p5sd2-vm dell pc and asus motherboard ram 1GB,in my pc games run slow ,is this any driver or hardware problem ,please help me

For most newer games you need a higher end graphics card, a fast processor (at least 2 Ghz Dual Core), and at least 2 GB of ram. There is little chance that there is a problem with your computer other than there might be programs running in the background such as anti-virus programs. If you disable your anti-virus software and the games are still slow, you should consider an upgrade.

Game Sluttering

Many reasons for game to stutter. 1. Virus can slow down your pc performance - run virus scan 2. Overheating issue with processor fan - blow out the fan with compressed air 3. Overheating video card - blow out video card 4. Lots of programs running in the background - ctrl+alt+del then check how much RAM is being used and how many processors If these above problem solutions to much i would just reinstall OS and blow out the fans. 5.

After use internet my pc,s speed very slow.

Your computer may be infected with a virus. Are you running any anti virus software?

Do a simple scan of your machine using anti virus software - If you have none installed, download and install this.

I have included AVG as its free.

Log off from the internet and run the scans - if you haven't run one before this may take several hours.

The clean up should remove any old entries and also detect any virus which may be slowing down your machine.

My pc is very slow running.

A lot of the time.. well more like 99% of the time, if a virus has infected your computer, your installed virus protection program will no be able to detect it. So what to do?

-Disable your "system restore" first. 95% of viruses live in your system restore. If a you don't, than the next part will be a waste of time.

-Go to . Run the scan....

good luck!

My computer runs too slow

First what is the computer, do you know the processor such as Intel or AMD and what speed such as MHZ. How much RAM. one of the first way to increase speed is to install more ram, you may have only 256 running XP, Vista runing 512 compared to 1 meg is like night and day. Other things you can do such as a defrag which is in the sytem tools, Do you run a virus detect? You may have a virus, trojan or malware, In the RUN type in msconfig. This will show you a window with tabs across the top. One tab says start up. it will show you all the programs that run when you first turn it on, by unchecking boxes of programs you do not want to run at start up will make your machine boot up faster. Be carefull only eliminate programs you know such as word, or works, etc. You need to leave a virus detect run at start. when you finish the tab that says general change the dot back to normal start up and apply. reboot your system and see what happens. there are many other things to do also, If you have a virus detect, right click the icon in the lower right of your screen, disable your detect or exit and see if your computer speeds up. If it does than your virus detect is bogging your machine down. Reboot to reactivate your virus detect.. Good luck.

Frequent freezing of mouse, and unexpected shut down

the mouse is freezing because, you have either too many programmes running at start up, conflicting drivers, slow start up anti virus programmes, or you may have a virus or trojan/spyware programme running in the background. The shut down could be a processor overheating problem, so check all your vents and fans for clogged up dust and ensure your pc is well ventillated.
