Keep getting-We couldn't complete the updates. Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer.

If a computer is working properly never get into updates since all they do, often enough, is ruin a good thing. U only update when a program that you must have working has to have the latest update in your OS or whatever.

Auto up dates should be turned off on your computer for that reason. Furthermore, you have no control when the auto feature turns on and if it does so when your computer is loaded down with a resource intensive program, you are in deep doo doo because mistakes will be made..

How to disable automatic updates on XP windows?

To turn on Automatic Updates yourself, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then press ENTER.
  2. Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click to select one of the following options. We recommend that you select the Automatic (recommended) Automatically download recommended updates for my computer and install them option.
    • Automatic (recommended) Automatically download recommended updates for my computer and install them

If you select this option, Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to find updates on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site that apply to your computer. Updates are downloaded automatically in the background, and you are not notified or interrupted during this process. An icon appears in the notification area of your taskbar when the updates are being downloaded. You can point to the icon to view the download status. When the download is complete, you receive another message in the notification area so that you can review the updates that are scheduled for installation.
      • Click to select the day and time for scheduled updates to download and install. You can schedule Automatic Updates for any time of day. However, your computer must be on at the scheduled time for updates to be installed.
      • You can choose to install the updates as soon as they are finished downloading. To do this, click the download message (or update icon), and then click Install. If you choose not to install the updates when they finish downloading, Windows starts the installation on your set schedule.
    • Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them

If you select this option, Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to automatically download updates from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site. An icon appears in the notification area of your taskbar when the updates are being downloaded. You can point to the icon to view the download status. When the download is complete, you receive another message in the notification area so that you can review the updates that are scheduled for installation.
      • When you want to install the downloaded update, click the message (or update icon), and then click Install to install the update.
      • If you do not want to install a downloaded update, click Details, and then click to clear the check box next to that update to decline it.
    • Notify me but don't automatically download or install them

If you select this option, Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to search for downloads from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site. An Automatic Updates icon and message appear in the notification area of your taskbar when new updates are available to download or to install.
      • Click the icon or message to view the updates. If you do not want to download a selected update, click to clear the check box next to that update to decline it. Click Start Download to download the selected updates. The Automatic Updates icon remains in the notification area of your taskbar while the updates are being downloaded. You can point to the icon to view the download status.
      • When the download is complete, you receive another message in the notification area stating that the updates are ready to install. Click the Automatic Updates icon or the message, and then click Install to install the updates.
  3. Click OK.

How do I change the time on the clock?

  1. Tap Menu > Settings > Phone
  2. Tap Time & Date.
  3. Tap Time Format, Date Format or Auto Update > Save
It's best to keep it set to Auto Update so that it takes the network time and updates for DST changes.

Hope this helps. If so, please consider rating this solution.

-best regards,

When I connected to internet It shows that It's downloading & updating endless.how can I fix this?

You obviously needed updates from Microsoft site for your operating system . You also have Automatic update s set in your computer to do this automaticly
You can stop this, with setting change on ICON lower right hand side auto update is probably a multicolore shield ICON OR open browser to your IE home page open top menu item TOOLS then look to UPDATES in there you can shut off auto updates or finish the updates started ... There can be 40 to 60 updates loading that you probably NEED but if it bothers you , Shut them off ... Incidently the number one cause of Pc lapto failure is out of date updates ...

I need free update drivers for my pc

If you have a newer version of Windows, all you have to do is go to Start Button->All programs->Windows Update. The procedure can be cumbersome. It will check whether this auto-update software itself is up to date; next, it wil ask you to authenticate your license, etc. etc. If you meet all requirements, you'll finally get to the Updates screen. However, you'll have to do this several times before you really are up to date, especially if you haven't done this in a while.
There are several updates available sometimes within the same day to address the profusion of new viruses/threats, and this quantity can also affected by whether or not you have installed other MS products, like Office, etc. Last, be prepared to reboot several times.
Good luck!

My system was showing me configuiring update 3 of 3 conplite. do not turn off ur computer.and it shutting down and turning on to the same page..it open it just showing me date on the screen

I had this problem during last summer. I had to restore my computer to a prior date and then disable my Windows updates for a while to get this solved. I waited 4 months before I did any updates.
This was a while back in the summer so I hope I don't end up with the same problem again with any new updates. I choose all my updates now and don't allow them to install without my checking them. Of course, I don't know really which ones are safe to update or not, but I try and check each one online before I install them.

What,s the deal with windows updates in Windows XP,i have a dell laptop with XP home edition. How shoul'd i configure automatic updates, does it need to be turned on automatic download and update 24/7,or...

What I'd do personally. If you have a broadband connection. Just enable the update program to update during the early hours of the morning. Say somewhere between 1AM and 6AM. This can be set so windows will automatically download, install, and configure the updates for your system. Remember, for it to be able to do this; the computer must be on.

This way it won't be a hinder to your every day internet usage, and it will do it's business while you're not using the computer. I have mine set up the same way and it's really nice. A simple reboot on some mornings is all I ever have to worry about and my PC is always up to date.

Some time you might get this issues with the updates if they doesn't install properly or the computer turns off while instaiing updates.

However you can select last known good configuration of restore you computer to earlier time.
