Here is a bit more info I should have included in my 1st post. I use two monitors, one runs off the DVI outlet and works fine. the second ,the problem one, runs off the VGA outlet. When I reboot the computer both screens show the start logos clearly. as soon as the desktop background comes on the VGA flashes the proper background color then all goes faint. if I swap the cables the other shows the same problem

    .

I did as you suggested and there is no difference.

Great call. All screens are good. Thanks

Check the cable, take it out of the back of your pc on then reinsert, make sure you shut your computer down first, and then reboot afterwards. check the graphics settings by right clicking the screen and choose personilise or properties depending on what operating system. Go into display settings and check that its on 24 to 32 bit, also check the settings in the appearence tab, try changing the colour scheme. post back your results.cheers

On the other monitor that shows your desktop goto device manager, right click on the video card driver and try a roll back driver. Also try right clicking on the screen and go to properties, display settings, advanced settings tab at the bottom of the window, goto monitor at the top and ensure the screen refresh rate is set to 60 hertz any higher will cause the monitor to not display the screen.
Make sure you identify the monitors first so you know you are ajusting the correct monitor. post back the results. cheers

The only option is to check if you only connect one monitor to the vga and take all other cables out of the graphics card, if you still have the same problem then i am afraid thet the vga circuitry must be faulty, i cant understand why this would have happened by upgrading the driver though, it might be asking another expert to see if they have any more ideas that you could try. thanks for the question i will look into further. Thanks.

You could try uninstalling the graphics in device manager, and then rebooting the computer to see if that helps.

Vga driver asuss

commonly VGA onboard driver always packages together with motherboard driver.. try to use device manager on control panel. when u see question mark on VGA driver, insert motherboard driver, right click on VGA driver at device manager. choose update driver, just choose recommended option and click next. your VGA driver will automatically installed. but if u still get trouble try to visit this site: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5SMX_SE/
1. choose download tab, then select your operating system. 2. choose what driver that u need, then there will be list of the driver. 3. click download button, there is some option, just choose one.
i hope this helpful. regard, riyan

Restart computer -> Keep tapping on F8 key till safe mode option appears-> login using safe mode -> when login complete -> rightclick on my computer -> properties-> hardware tab -> Device Manager -> click on Sub-option "Display Adapters"-> Right click the adapter inside -> properties -> driver tab -> rollback drivers.
Follow instructions and restart and choose normal windows if asked.

If not successful, goto start -> all programs -> Accessories -> System tools, -> system resore -> choose restore to a previous... -> choose a date before the date you updated drivers. dont go 3-4 month, you might loose data. choose a closer date to the date you found the issue. follow the instructions.

restarts automatically and recovery screen comes. dont worry this is normal. when done, restart the system and see if resolution is alright.

get back to us with what has happened, we will support you further.

thanks, have a nice day....

Go to devise mgr and look at the sound hardware under sound, rt click on realtek and click on properties, look at driver, does it say windows or realtek, and check version and date, then go to realtek
and see if the driver is the newest and the right one for your hardware.

That was great that you listed some info, but the wrong info,ex for OS, you should have listed the motherboard model #, you should post back the model# and what it said under driver, version, date of driver. Then someone can check to see if the correct driver is installed.

Troubleshooting Asus eax1950pro graphics card

I would try removing the driver, then shut the PC off remove the graphics card and then reset it back into the board. I would then boot up the PC and reload your graphic drivers. Some thing else you might want to consider is updating your BIOS file on the motherboard to the latest version. An out of date BIOS can lack support for features you might need.

I hope this helps,

Thanks for using FixYa,

Eric
