Question about Hitachi 42V710 42" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Greenish picture I've had a Hitachi 42" LCD for about 3 years. The bulb went a few months ago, they sent me a new one, I replaced it, it worked fine. Now, lately, there is a greenish hue over the entire screen. Sometimes, it's hard to notice it (High Def), but between commercials when the screen is black, or when it's a dark scene, its really obvious. Is there anything I can do, or does a tech have to come and fix it?

Sounds like you might have a defective optical engine or at least it is internally dirty. would recommend that you have a qualified service tech look at it. if the quote is very high than you might want to just live with it.

Bought my hitachi 50vs69a tv 3 years ago. put new bulb in six months ago after original shattered. New bulb is not working now. TV comes on and stays on a few seconds then power, lamp and temp light start...

Take the lamp out and examine it. Are there any blackened markes that look like arcing marks? If there are then the lamp may be faulty and that could be caused by the ballast but in my experience of working with Sany and Philips lamps, the ballast units generally fail without causing lamp problems.
I should go for a new lamp.
Hope that helps.

Sony wega kdsr60xbr1 Its picture is a greenish

If this is the model I am thinking of, don't bother fixing it. Call up sony and they will should offer you an new sony bravia lcd tv. You can either get the free one or upgrade from the free one to a bigger one. I guess that there is some recall with the light engine and sony is giving out this offer. This happened to my grandma to her 42" grand wega. The ending result was that she got a 46" 120hz sony bravia tv for, if I remember right, $250. I hope that this helps. Good luck and happy new years!!!

TV Picture Goes Black

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions
