Your plasma screen is made up of 1080 verticle lines and now a few of these lines are not working. This is the screen itself and needs replacing.

I think your TV have a trouble inside lcd panel
the controller board contains driver IC. Deffective driver IC can cause of line display.



Three reasons why one vertical line accross screen can happen in LCD;

1.The missing signal from the controller IC to
LCD driver.
2. LCD driver IC itself defective
3. Dry contact in the tape carrier package.

Use masking or electrical tape to mark it where the line was located. press it if the line back to normal but when release your hand came back i think it was intermittent. Open the LCD panel


Use robber

Place the rubber on the top of TCP

Gently close back the top casing

I have same problem. Toshiba 42' hl196 purchased 4/07 line appeared 1 year and 9 months researched on Toshiba thread. Bad LCD screen. Repair cost more than tv-have to replace lcd screen. I didn't get the extended warranty. If still under warranty get hold of toshiba. Lot of people having same problem. Should get aclass action lawsuit started selling defective LCD screens. Had this same issue on right side of 52" about 1 inch from side but had 3 vertical lines that disappeared after 40 minutes. Have Samsung LNT5265FX/XXA and about 16 months old. LCD Panel itself had to be replaced to fix it, fortunately had extended service plan

The display screen is made of a matrix of elements connected to cables along the side and top. On your unit, some of these many, tiny connections are making contact intermittantly thus losing the elements in that area. These contacts are held in place with just pressure and if that is disturbed, you lose that line of elements. Try squeezing the cabinet of the TV on the outside at the top in the area of the loss and see if that makes a difference. May have to go inside and see if the contact assembly is disturbed or warped or something.
