GE PTS25LHSARBB doesn't hold temps.

Thank you for your advise regarding my GE frige PTS25LHSARBB not holding temps on the frige and freezer. We cleaned the condensor coils and the entire bottom area of the unit.We still have a couple of questions regarding your advise:
1.Where is the defrost heater unit on this model. Is a schematic available?
2.Where is the evaporator unit (check for freezing)

We thank you very much for this valuable information.

Frank

Have no idea who may have responded to any of your previous posts.
The defrost heater is located behind the back wall of the freezer compartment. You will have to unload the freezer and remove the icemaker to get to it. It is located at the very bottom of the cooling coils (which are officially known as the evaporator). When you remove the back wall to reveal the evaporator, in a normally operating refrigerator, you would see a light even coating of frost if the refrigerator has been running for at least 20 minutes or more.

How do I go about 'cleaning the coils' on a GE profile model - freezer is having trouble holding 0 F and I was told this would help. thanks

It is not necessary to clean the evaporator coil.
The condenser coil underneath may need cleaning.
Use a long handle bottle brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Your refrigerator freezer temp will fluctuate from minus 5 degrees to plus 18 degrees on a regular basis.
It will not be a steady temp.

My GE PTS25LHSARBB has developed a problem with holding temps

have you checked the evaporator coil for icing up,it sounds like after you unplug it it defrosts and the evaporator deices, this could be caused by dirty evaporator and condenser coils or warm air getting around door seals condensing on the evaporator coils and freezing and blocking cold air flow,if this is the case, then check defrost heater circuit for proper operation

Model TBX18KMB. Liquids on top shelf often freeze. Also, need to cut electric bills, can Power Saver help?

Turn the refrigerator temp control down try factory setting, usually c on frige and 3 on freezer control. The cold air circulating from the freezer enters at the top of the frige therefor it is usually colder.

The freezer temp is fine but the fridg temp is 50 degrees. It will not get colder than that. I have left it off for 24 hours to defrost and turned it back on and this did not solve the problem.

try moving the temp around, then if you tryed that already then defrost your frige turn off completly for one day if that dont fix it check if switch is working, last thing is the change the compressor

Temperature in freezer doesn't come down below freezing point

Searching on line, I noticed some similar problems addressed by technicians and customers. But their diagnosis was consistent: call the repair guy. They believed that the solution to the kind of problem I had was between "dump it" or "pay a big lump of dough to repair. So we replaced the old one.
