Ribbon Label Stock Misalignment

Our operator did not push the new ribbon stock/core all the way onto the spindle until it was resting on the stop. This resulted in the ribbon not tracking properly and information missing from our printed labels. This resulted in an Unhappy customer. Is there some type of ribbon guide that could prevent this problem?

I need replacement spring for ribblon supply spindle. It is the tension spring that fits outside od the inner coil spring Mod 105SL Ser # 6406991

That spring is part of the Ribbon supply spindle and I don't think anyone would sell you just the spring unless they charge you what the spindle is worth for just the spring. If you need i have them in stock. Rory 708-597-4222

Gap not detected

GAP NOT DETECTED error in displayProduct: T5000rSymptom

GAP NOT DETECTED error in display.
Possible Cause

Dirty media sensors, wrong label length
Recommend Solution

Clean the upper and lower media sensors by spraying them with dry air. This should bedone every time the media (label stock) is changed.

Before running the Auto-Calibrate operation, check the QUICK SETUP or MEDIA CONTROL menu for the 'Label Length' parameter. It should be set to the length of the label, not counting the gap.

Check that the sensor type has been set in CALIBRATE CTRL menu to match the media and ribbon.
"Gap" Select when using media with a liner space between die-cut labels or when using tag stock with notches or holes as label length indicators.
"Mark" Select when using media that has horizontal black marks located on the underside of the label liner or tag stock.
"Advanced Gap" Select when media is gapped but also has a dark background.
This sensor arrangement looks through the ribbon, and will not work if ribbon is too dark.
"Advanced Notch" Select when media has a notch that is placed in a dark line on the back of the stock.

Check the position of the media sensor. It should pass through the center of gaps or marks or notches, but not through pre-printed areas if possible.

Run Auto-Calibrate in CALIBRATE CTRL menu, which sets Gap and Paper Out Thresholds

1 Answer

The barcode cannot be printed on the direct label

Your description is not very specific but no printing can be the result of:
1. The darkness is not set high enough
2. The ribbon is loaded backwards
3. You are trying to do direct thermal printing (no ribbon) but the label stock is not direct thermal stock.

Maybe you can provide more details.

Hope this helps,

The ribbon does not feel when I calibrate the printer.

I believe you mean Feed.
1. ensure the ribbon is above the snap plate and the label stock is below the snap plate in the 'throat' of the printer. Be sure the ribbon pulls withoout restriction with the head open.
2. Without ribbon attached to the take-up spindle, does the take-up spindle still spin? If not, check the belt/pulley inside rear cover of printer.
3. Take-up spindle (and feed spindle, for that matter) have a clutch mechanism that should have about 400 g of pull/resistance. If the clutch is slipping, that may cause ribbon to not feed.

Ribbon not printing correctly on new labels have a sato CL412E and we are using the same ink ribbons we always use (premium wax/resin ribbon TRX-55) and we just started using new labels from a new company...

The ribbon / label combination usually doesn't have anything to do with print position of the fields on the label. Is the quality/durability of the print that you are seeing on the new labels the same as before ? With a glossier stock print quality should actually be better. This will at least tell you that the ribbon is correct for the new label stock. Is the new label a different size than previous labels ? That could account for the fields not printing in the correct position if the printer is not calibrating correctly on the new size.

Not sure if this will help but may give some ideas...

Printer keeps stopping halfway though run of labels. Red light comes on and when pressed goes green reprints last label then a few more then stops again.

Usually this is a sensor problem. The printer is not recognizing that the labels are moving through. Remove the labels and blow out the interior with clean air. That may resolve the problem. Dust can accumulate on the sensors and cause this.

Please update this if that does not resolve the problem.

Won't print- red light lights up when printing a test page. I've tried resetting the printer (unplugging it and letting it sit for over 1 minute), I've attempted to uninstall the printer and reinstall,...

I have seen this problem a few times. The problem is occuring because the ribbon spool is popping off it's guide sprockets. Often it will pop itself back on. So when you open printer and look at the ribbon it looks fine. Solution. Make sure that the ribbon core is pushed firmly onto it's guide sprockets. You may have to push the ribbon out of the core with as the soft ribbon tends to fill the gaps in the cardboard ribbon core.
Comments: Apr 25, 2009- Easiest way to verify whether ribbon is causing problems is...

1: Remove ribbon from printer,

2: Perform a calibration routine with ribbon removed from printer.

if this works, (press feed button 6 times to verify correct operation)

3: Install ribbon and perform calibration again. If it does not calibrate properly then know that the ribbon is causing problem.

Error code 754

It's very possible you are not installing the ribbon properly.
When loading a new ribbon on a Monarch printer, you must save the plastic ribbon core (it's butter yellow in color) from the previous roll of ribbon. The core is what the ribbon is wound up on.
Do not throw away this plastic core - you need it for the next roll of ribbon you load!
You have to move this now empty core from the back ribbon spindle and slide it on the front ribbon spindle. You then load the new ribbon on the back spindle and attach the ribbon end to the empty plastic ribbon core on the front spindle.
You CAN NOT just tape the ribbon to the front spindle. You must have an empty ribbon core to attach the new ribbon to. The printer will give a 754 error unless you have two plastic cores on the two spindles. It can also give a 754 error if the ribbon is not loaded properly, and also if you have a bad motherboard. There are no ribbon sensors, so that's never going to be a problem...

The printer say there is no ribon but i put a new one and still it's not working

try to install again but this time make sure you follow the manual especially on step 5,6 and 7 I list down again the step from the manual 5: Load the new roll of print ribbon on the cartridge. ? Put the full spool of ribbon on the supply spindle of the ribbon cartridge. Push until the spool clicks onto the spindle. ? Put the empty take-up spool on the spindle with the solid black gear. Push until the spool clicks onto the spindle. 6: Replace the loaded ribbon cartridge in the printer. ? Make sure both spindles rest in the black supports on the left side of the printer. ? Make sure the ribbon cartridge handle rests in the supports on the right side of the printer. ? Make sure to install the full, new spool toward the card tray of the printer. 7 Close the printer cover. Press down firmly to latch it.
