The brush bar, properly called a 'disturbulator' (seriously, it is!) runs off a belt aroung either the center or one end of the bar, the belt then passing around a pulley on the motor, said pulley being part off the 'fan' blade which provides the air flow and creates the suction. If the belt is okay, possibly some 'fluff' or carpet fiber has wrapped aroung the slot on the bar or the groove on the pulley, causing the belt to slip and the disturbulator not to turn.

Why is the brush not going round

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

As with many Dyson vacuums, DC25's cleaner head is protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. If the brush bar isn't currently rotating the machine may need to be reset - this is simple to do after you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions, and removing any threads or hair from around the brush bar and end cap. Please follow the steps shown in the video guide below:

When you've completed these checks and reassembled the vacuum, plug it back in, recline it into the normal vacuuming position turn it on and press the silver brush control switch (next to the red on/off switch) twice. The brush bar should start to rotate - please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the vacuum is standing upright.

In the unlikely event that you continue to have issues with the cleaner head after giving this a try, please get in touch with our experts so we can provide further assistance. If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if your machine is still within its Dyson guarantee. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Spot bot is blowing not sucking

This problem may be the same as I am having. The SpotBot recirculates the vacuum air back into the brush area when it is using the circular brushes. There is a short flexible hose deep inside the unit that connects from the clear plastic nozzles in the round brush unit to the end of the clear vacuum hose outside. Mine had a large tear in that flexible hose. This causes air to enter the hose and reduces the vacuum action, like cutting a hole in the side of your regular vacuum hose. The bad part is that I have not been able to find a replacement hose. It also takes a bit of repair experience to even get inside to where this hose is. Given the number of references to this type of issue, it appears that Bissell has a design flaw that causes the hose to break prematurely. Any response Bissell?

Forever series hose is clogged

Turn the sweeper upside down and stand it on the handle then take a screw driver to unclog the nozzle behind the roller brush. If the rest of the hose is clogged then you may have to take it to a sweeper repair store to get it cleaned.
I would try a straightened out coat hanger and CAREFULLY work it around to try to break the clog. If you're not that handy then go to an Oreck store if you have one.

Hi, i have a panasonic eco max, the brush has stopped going round, the belt is as new and brushes clean.suction good from hose. Any ideas please? thank you

The brush on this model is controlled by the on/carpet/floor switch and will only work in the carpet position. If the suction motor is running then it could be the roller brush motor, but it's more likely to be the microswitch which stops the brush motor when the handle is returned to the upright position.

Can't get it to ****!!!

Worked on one with your same problem of poor suction and won't stand up. On the left side of the handle, near the bottom, the port cover isn't on correctly. Take it off, put the handle in the upright position then reinstall the cover.

Bissell vaccum problem

Could be plugged, check the hose and at the bottom by the brush roll, the inlet maybe clogged. Also check the filter under neath the dirt tank. There are filters above the dirt container, clean those out. If after that it is still loud, then maybe the motor fan or bearins are bad and will have to be replaced, part #2031214 sells for around $55.
