Internet hesitation Hi, I have a problem with my HP internet connection. I am running XP Home and using both I.E. and Firefox. When I have been idle for maybe a couple minutes, the connection won't respond for about 30 seconds but once it kicks on, it works fine until I let it sit idle for a minute again (like enough time to read a news article on a page). Then I click on a link and it hesitates again for about 30 seconds before it connects. It does this in both programs (I.E. and Firefox), however my laptop, which is on the same connection, does not have this problem (laptop running win2k pro). Oh, and it's 700k comcast cable internet if you need to know that. Thanks!

I can't seem to successfully download Mozilla Firefox. Can you help ?

I would suggest that you first uninstall the old version for Firefox. In Windows XP, go to: Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Select "Mozilla Firefox", and proceed to uninstall.

Then download a new version of Firefox (using another browser, such as IE or Chrome). The latest version is available at: http://www.getfirefox.com/

Then install the new version (click on the file that you download).

For more on installation, see this Firefox help file:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing%20Firefox%20on%20Windows

Hope that's helpful.

HI lately for some reason one of my computers that have mozilla firefox wont load the firefox start page or anyother page. Also it keep saying problem loading page and that my internet may not be connected...

Hi,

Is this problem happening on Internet Explorer as well?
Also, what version of Firefox are you running?
If it's not happening in Internet Explorer, please do the following:
1. In Firefox, click Tools->addons, then click the disable button for every addon that you see.
2. On the same addon window, click the Plugins icon, and disable all plugins.
3. Click Tools->options->advanced tab, then click the Network tab, and click the "clear now" button to empty the browser cache. Then restart Firefox and let us know if the issue was resolved.

Neither Internet Explorer or Firefox will connect to internet. Firefox say it cant connect to proxy server. How do I check proxy settings?

Open your Internet Explorer,
Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections "Tab" -> LAN Settings -> Proxy server, uncheck the box -> OK

Restart your Browsers ie IE or Firefox, you don't need the proxy server if your are a home users.

Hope it helps.

XP Cant connect to internet

First, I would recommend getting a router.
That aside I believe your issue may lie with your internet browser. Do you use Internet Explorer?  Try another browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox and see if that helps.
If that does not work, then try setting up your home network once more.

I get a window saying Command line option syntax error.

Hi! I think you are using internet explorer 6.0 then upgrade it to internet explorer 7.0 or later. Delete temporary internet files, History and Cookies from internet properties in control panel. If this is not the case try uninstalling and re-installing internet explorer.

And if still unsuccessful then using Mozilla Firefox web browser will certainly solve your concern.

You can download Mozilla Firefox from the following link -

I would go into control panel, system, device drivers and uninstall your modem. Reboot the computer and let windows re-install it.
