Question about Pegasus Technologies Plumbing

1 Answer

I purchased a pegasus drain with overflow for a vessel which sits on a tiled surface. The picture on the drain package suggests that the bottom gasket be placed underneath the mounting surface. The mounting surface is tiled particle board. Doing that and using silicone sealant that solution leaks. The way the mounting is described makes no sense since there are multiple surfaces shown which would have to be liquid tight. The only solution for a fix seems,to cut a large hole , say 4 inches into the table top and [put the rubber flange gasket directly against the lower vessel opening. The problem is that this is a leak repair and the vessel is already glued to the top. My only solution for a fix under these circumstances would be to try to open the area underneath to a 4 inch diameter , so that I can fit the gasket to the vessel as mentioned and have enough room to tighten the flange nut. One the same note should I use plumbers putty instead of silicone to seat the drain and go without increasing the opening and assemble as was originally suggested?

SOURCE: Pegasus Push Button Vessel Sink Drain with overflow

Put plumbers putty around the flange that will be in contact with the sink. When you put it into the hole, try to line up the overflow as good as possible. The nut that goes onto the bottom (tailpiece) has a rubber gasket that will go between the nut & the sink. Adding some plumbers putty here won't hurt. After all is secure, just remove the putty that squeezed out from tightening.

SOURCE: i bought a maax shower

There are two ways that I would do it depending on the width of the ledge on top of shower base. If you have enouch room I would shim studs with strips of material thick enough to bring the surface out even with flange on shower base. Then I would put cement board(wonder board) on wall and over shower flange to set on top of shower base. Finish seams on wall board per manufacturers directions,Let seam filler dry then seal with thompsons water seal or equivalent sealer. Let that dry then tile on that grouting and sealing with quality caulk at joint between shower base and tile.
If ledge on shower base is not wide enough then I would place cement board directly to studs then use filler strips on face of shower base flange to bring two surfaces flush. Water seal let dry and tile again coming down over top of shower. Grout and caulk to finish. P.S. I would use a siliconized latex emulsifier to mix in with grout. It gives a better ware proof seal. Hope this helps you. Good luck and thank you.

Some water sits in the bottom and does not drain completely. Don't know if the drain inside the sink was not properly installed or if the sink is designed that way.

this is not supposed to happen, either drain not installed properly or drain is clogged. suggest trying drain cleaner first if sink has been in for a period of time. if sink is recently installed call whoever installed and have them fix the drain

There is a trench/drain on the back wall behind

If you can view to rear of the unit wnd remove the bottom panel, there should be a hose coming from the drain to a pan of some type. If it has clamps on both ends remove the tube, place a vessel under the top tube attach point of trench drain and test the trench drain, if water is flowing freely from the drain to the vessel then clean out the tubing and replace.

That it back to Home Depot and get your money back! Then purchase the same faucet over again. If Home Depot sells this faucet, then they should make good for what they sell. It's not your fault that parts are missing. I searched the web high and low and could not find anything on the faucet. Everybody wants to sell, but no one will help you when your in trouble!
