If you cannot find the network adapter, the system does not have the appropriate driver for the device. You probably have a yellow icon in the other category which indicates the system does not know what the device is. I understand that the device is plugged into the computer.

Check with your device supplier for the appropriate drivers and support software to solve the problems.

My realtek rtl8101 ethernet card does not start show an error code:10 on the device manager

Is this a network adapter that's internal to the motherboard? If so, you need to download and install the drivers from the board manufacturer.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
  1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
  2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
  3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

If so you have to download all the drivers and install them.

I am trying to copy the driver from the internet connected computer then install it on the PC that I am trying to get connected using the 2wire 802.11g usb adapter, help

what problem are you having - once copied across to the PC you should be able to install and then see the device in device manager if installed correctly to go into the device manager and see if its shown. Press the Windows key (bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the R key, now in the search box that appears - type devmgmt.msc and see if you have a wireless adapter is showing under network adapters. see if there are any ? X or ! look under network adapters - click on the + and see if you have the adapter listed - check if it has any X or ! or ? A useful tool to use, if you can copy onto the PC, http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php this will detect all the networks broadcasting - so you can now see if the adapter is working and will detect your wireless network

My computer does not recognize the adapter

You will need to check the device manager.

Open the device manager.
In that list you will see the option network adapter.
Under network adapter you will see your adapter.
right click and go to properties. you will get the exact error message.

If you don't seethe adapter under network adapter list.
then search for the option " other devices " there might be listed.

Unplug the adapter and check if you any change in the device manager list. Plug it back in and check if you see any change.

The change in the list will be the adapter. right click on it and check the error message under device status.

The router will not configure on my pc. i keep getting error code 312. it says cannot find network adapter.

Confusing!

The Router is an "external" piece of hardware, outside of your computer,
while the "network adapter" usually is an "internal" piece of hardware, inside your computer.

If Windows has not loaded the device-driver for your specific network adapter, then there is no way for Windows to communicate THROUGH the (non-functioning) network adapter to the external router.

So:
click Start
click Control Panel
click Classic View
click System
click Hardware
click Device Manager
click the '+' to th left of Network Adapters

If there is nothing listed, then Windows has not "found" your network adapter. If there is a yellow "mark" on the network adapter, then the device-driver for the network adapter has a problem.

Take your computer to a "geeky" friend, or to a qualified technician, in order to install the correct device-driver for your specific manufacturer and model of computer.

Wireless connection disapeared from computer

Hello!

I am not sure exactly where you are checking for Wireless connections.

Anyhow, now a days we are hearing many Wireless adapter missing from Device manager issues.

Please get back to us with the Brand name of your laptop, OS installed.

Also check in Device manager for Wireless adapter.

Please follow these steps to open Device Manager:

1. Right Click on 'My Computer' icon on Desktop and choose Properties.
2. The System properties Window opens.
3. Click Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.

Expand + Network adapter and check if the Wireless adapter is listed there or not.

If it is not listed there, then the issue is with the Wireless adapter itself.

This is most comon issue in HP COMPAQ notebooks.

if you are not aware of the Wireless adapter under + Network adapters in Device manager, then get back to us with the complete information under + Network adapter.

So thatI can help you in better way

Lost wireless capability

You need first to check if the wireless adapter is installed properly, Ricght click My computer>Properties>Hardware tab>Device manager>look for network adapter and check if the wireless adapter is listed if its there right click on it and go to properties and check the device status..

If the adapter is not showing under network adapter look for anything that says Unknown or other device and you that's where you can find a improper installed device you just need to install the driver for that.

Hope that helps........

About laptop ethernet...

First figure out whether your hardware is ok and driver is installed properly. In Windows XP, click Start , right-click My Computer , and select Properties .
  1. In Windows 98 and Me, right-click My Computer , and select Properties .
  2. In Windows XP, click the Hardware tab, and then the Device Manager button. In Windows 98 and Me, click the Device Manager tab.
  3. If the Network adapters category is present with a (+) sign , then skip to Step 6. If Network Adapters has a (-) sign , continue to Step 5. Disregard adapters that do not reference an Ethernet Adapter .
  4. If a network adapter is not listed inside, do one of the following items based on the condition of the networking hardware:
    • Networking hardware is not installed. Install a new network card (desktop computer) or a new network PCMCIA card (notebook computer) per the card manufacturers' suggestions. This does not apply to on-board networking hardware.
    • The network card is not seated fully into its socket. For Desktops, remove the side-case, reseat the network card, and replace side case. For notebook computers, remove and reseat the network PCMCIA card. This does not apply to on-board networking hardware.
    • If the computer is older, it may need to have jumpers on the network card set to an IRQ and address range that is not already being used by another device. Remove the side-case, set the jumpers on the card, and replace the side case. Replacing the older network card with a newer Plug and Play network card is probably a better option.
    • For desktop PCs with on-board networking hardware, reset the BIOS:
      1. Restart the PC.
      2. Press F1 repeatedly when the first screens appear.
      3. Press F5 and Enter to reset the BIOS to default settings.
      4. Press F10 and Enter to save the settings and exit BIOS setup .
      5. Restart the PC.
      6. Check Device Manager again for the presence of the Networks adapters category. If the network adapter name is still missing, the on-board network adapter may be damaged. The motherboard should be replaced, or a PCI network adapter should be installed.
  5. If the network adapter is listed, but has a yellow exclamation mark over its icon c00060708.jpg , do one of the following:
    • Software drivers and supportive files may be missing or corrupted. Remove the device from Device Manager and reinstall the software by restarting the computer. See Step 5: Reinstalling network adapter software drivers .
    • If the computer is older, it may need to have jumpers on the network card set to an IRQ and address range that is not already being used by another device. Remove the side-case, set the jumpers on the card, and replace the side case. Replacing the older network card with a newer Plug and Play card is probably a better option.
  6. If the network adapter listed has a green adapter icon c00060709.jpg , the networking adapter is probably functioning correctly. If the PC still cannot connect to the Internet, make sure to complete the following steps before continuing:
    • The cable or DSL hardware may have stopped responding. Reset the cable or DSL hardware using the manufacturer suggestions.
    • There still may be a connection problem. Recheck the cable connections and replace any cables that have been pinched or that you suspect are bad.
    • The Internet Service may be down at your provider. Most Service Providers have a telephone support number. Call the ISP support number. If an outage is occurring, an automated response about system wide service outages will probably play. In this case wait until the service comes back.
If the network adapter icon is listed without problems, and the connections, service, and modem are working properly, then refresh the networking drivers.
Thanks
Iqbal
