Dell 922 printer -vista driver installed from dell website but printer still not printing. although it is showing that it has been installed on laptop

Hello,
What version of Vista are you running, is it 32 BIT or 64 BIT?

If you are not sure, you can download both 32 BIT and 64 BIT vista drivers.

The printer might also not be working because you might have wrongly installed the drivers.

The solutions to both these problems, is to start by uninstalling the driver you have currently installed, then install a new copy of the driver.
If you have downloaded both versions of the drivers, 64 and 32 BIT, install them one at a time, starting with the 32 BIT driver, install it then try out the printer. If it does not work, then uninstall the driver, then install the 64 BIT version of the driver.

When you have installed the driver, you should also check and make sure that the cables are correctly connected and that the printer can be detected by your computer.

You should also keep on trying, some printers take time before they start working properly.
Make sure you restart your computer and printer after you have finished installing a driver.

I recently got a new Dell computer and kept my Dell AIO 922 printer, but now the icon is lost, I cannot scan. However, I can print, but that is about it.


Do you still have the Dell AIO 922 Drivers and Utilities CD? If so, you can reinstall it on your new Dell PC with the Drivers and Utilities CD. Although you are able to see this printer in your list, the other components are missing such as the scan and fax options. If you have already reinstalled it using the CD, you should see the All In One Center under the Start Menu/ All Programs/Dell Printers/Dell AIO Printer 922 and the All In One Center should be showing there. You can right click on the All in One Center and select "send to" and choose desktop to create a shortcut or icon on your desktop. Your options for scanning and faxing should be showing here. Hope that helps!

My dell 922 aio was functioning properly when I had windows XP, now that I have Vista, only the printer portion will work and not the scanner or fax. Do I need updated drivers?

Printer (922) won't install on new laptop


If your laptop is running Vista and your old desktop was running XP and the disk you got with your printer had drivers that worked with XP and Vista is not listed on them, it would be a case of incompatibility. You would need to go to the Dell website to download updated drivers for Vista if they are not of the standard Vista driver package. (The driver model changed between XP and Vista making XP drivers incompatible with Vista.)

what operating system are you using? if you have windows vista then go to the dell site, download the patch under the windows vista drivers. run the patch, it will remove all traces of the software then download the latest vista driver form the dell site and install it. if that doesnt work then try this.

1. Download the latest Vista driver.
2. Disconnect the PC from the network/Internet
3. Delete the printer
4. Disconnect the printer from the PC
5. Uninstall the software from Device Manager (you have to choose
view, show hidden devices). Right click on the printer and choose
uninstall.
6. Uninstall the software from the program group or the control panel.
7. Reboot
8. Delete everything in C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\
9. Install the Vista Driver reconnecting the printer when the driver
install calls for it.

Updated to Windows Vista and now the Dell 922 AIO scanner won't work


For windows Vista; it is imperative to run the Vista patch which can be found on the Dell website (Downloads and drivers).
Make sure that you run the patch, after removing the printer USB cable from the computer. Restart the computer as the patch suggests and then install the Vista specific drivers, which also need to be downloaded from Dell Website.
Again, do not connect the printer unless the installation software asks you to.
For scanner issues, those who are unable to get anything scanned to their computer, and are able to print, it is essentialy a Firewall/Anti-virus issue. You can check that out by trying to scan using an application such as MSPaint (Start> type 'mspaint' > hit enter).

You will have to use the New Dell 922 VISTA drivers and not the XP drivers in order for it to work with your Vista Loaded PC. The new drivers for the 922 under Vista are available for download at Dells website.
