Question about Philips GoGear HDD1830 MP3 Player

Player isnt connected to computer

Its me again :(...ok i downloaded the SW for my mp3 player now the philips device manager says your player is not connected to the computer...i have it plugged in right...can someone please help me

    i dont believe i have media player 11..i looked under my installed programs and it doesnt say which media player i have...i do have windows xp and im almost positive i have media player 10.how can i find out for sure which media player i have?

    ok ive done everything u told me to do and i still cant get my computer to see that the device is connected..is there anything else? or should i jus take this player back and get a different 1?

    I am having the same problem with philips SA6185. Although it was detected on my work computer without any added software. can't seem to find any drivers to download on Philips site or their patch 'detect philips driver zip'

    I am having the same problem. Running XP with Media 10 on my pc. I have also downloaded the patch from the p4c site. still does not show my player as being connected. I cannot repair my player...help!!

Make sure you are running Windows XP & Windows Media Player 10.

If you have already rolled back from Media Player 11 to 10, make sure you also uninstall Media Player 11 Runtime fro the add/remove programs list.

Try this method...

Go to Device Manager
To get to Device Manager you will:
Right click on My Computer>Properties>click the Hardware Tab>Device Manager.
After you are in Device Manager look for your MP3 player or Unit.
Here you should see no "Yellow" exclamation points.
If you do they they are telling you that you have a device conflict.
If you currnetly have your unit plugged in, you may notice the "unknown device" which would be your Player or Unit.
If you unit has an exclamation point by it, then you will need to click on it and delete it.
After you remove all devices with conflicts then click on refresh and search again for your MP3 player/Device.
The computer should install your device this time and solve your problem with connection of the MP3 player/Device.

Your player is controlled by an internal program called the firmware. Newer versions of the

firmware may have been released after you have purchased your player.


A software program called Philips Device Manager enables you to update the firmware on

your device if a new firmware is available on your PC. Install Philips Device Manager from the supplied CD or download the latest version from www.philips.com/support (see above link for product specific page).


5.1 Manually verify whether your firmware is up

to date


1 Connect your player to the computer.

2 Launch Philips Device Manager from Start > Programs > Philips Digital Audio

Player > SA31XX > Philips SA31XX Device Manager.

3 Make sure you are connected to the internet.

4 Click Update.

> Philips SA31XX Device Manager will check whether a new firmware is available on the

Internet and install it on your player.

5 When Update completed appears on the screen, click OK and disconnect the player.

> A message Updating firmware will be displayed.


The player will automatically restart after the firmware has been completely updated. Your player

My philips mp3 4 gb player froze up while trying to download music I have tried the reset button and it still goes to the froze up spot


Visit the philips website and found your product. Download the device manager program and install it to your computer. Run the program, keep pressing the 'return' button and put into the pc's usb. Keep pressing, the device manager program will find the device and then you can solve the problem by the program.

How Do I Restart my Philips MP3 Player??/


It could be a hardware issue requiring replacement, but here are the things you can try to narrow it down:
1. Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
2. Reset the player
3. Run an Update using the latest version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website
4. Run a Repair in Philips Device Manager

Enter in your exact model #

Install the new Device Manager

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

When i turn on my mp3 getting error as " connect to PC and repair through device manager"

Windows media wont sync music


Make sure you are not using Windows Media Player 11 - it will work for a while, but eventually will start displaying the symptoms you are describing - you can read the warning on Philips website.

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Try another USB port

SA9200 device manager problems


OK - you messed up somehow. Instead of downloading the Philips Device Manager from Philips' official site, you have downloaded malware. The only legitimate source for the Philips Device Manager is www.usasupport.philips.com

Download the legitimate version and plug your mp3 player into the computer. The "Repair" button will then appear.

First you should hold down the go back button on your mp3 while still holding this button, plug it into the usb port. While still holding the button open up the philip device manager, this should instantly start to repair your device. While it is repairing you can let go of the go back button
