Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router (e125894)

Updated Canadian firmware

Trying to find updated Canadian firmware for this router. Since I have a WRT54GS-CA the US update doesn't seem right. The Canadian site is useless for this. Router keeps dropping off line without cause so I'm hoping an update might fix that.

Thanks. I did solve the prob when I got to the correct Canadian site. which is www.ca.linksys.com/.....The incorrect one is www.linksys.ca which has only links to commercial sites.

Check the exact model of your router with the version number.. it can be found underneath the device itself.. you could also check the firmware on the router's page by accessing it, then go to the status tab.. on that kind of routers, if the firmware ranges from 1.50.0-1.51.2 you need to upgrade that because it gives you a problem.. the latest version is 1.52.2.. those are routers of version 5 and 6.. you can download the firmware at www.linksys.com/downloads.. select NA and usa first then type your model number and select your version number.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Configuration Lost After Restart

there must be some memory on the board that isn't functioning properly. Try to do a factory defaults and set it up and see if it sticks. If it doesn't then I would suspect bad circuitry or perhaps firmware issue. You can upgrade your firmware may resolve this issue.

Here is where you can download your manual and download firmware. Do not update firmware through wireless connection!

To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.

The updated version of firmware is level 1.02NA You can check which level of firmware you currently have installed and if its a lower number you can try to update it if factory defaults don't do the trick.

My wireless portion of my router has not been working, and a reset has not helped. I was told by an on-line help section that my firmware may need to be updated.

If you can still access the router setup page, yes doing a firmware upgrade will be a good thing to do here to correct the wireless problem, to download the firmware you can go to linksys.com and just select your routers model and proceed with the download and with the update....

Playstation 3 disconnecting from wireless gaming

Linksys loves to ship their routers with out-dated firmware. If you haven't updated the firmware of your router, that would be the first thing I'd do. From what I've read about routers and PS3, a lot of routers had trouble when they came out but had firmware updates to resolve the problem.

You'll need to go to the below link and select your version to get firmware downloads specific to your Model router and version number. The version number is listed on the bottom of your router next to the model.

Be sure to read up on how to update the firmware and be sure you only update the firmware from a computer connected via WIRED connection to the router. Doing it wirelessly will cause disconnection from the router mid update and will cause your router to become a paper-weight!

The above link is a good website to find out a lot of information about Linksys routers and how to secure/update/configure them.

To update the firmware, here's the step

1. Open Internet Explorer, type http://192.168.0.1

Try manually add the network. If the problems continue, I would turn the laptop in for repair/replacement (if it under warranty).
