I bought my bb7290 off of Ebay too, and it worked perfectly fine until about two days ago. Now I can't get any network hardly ever. I manually search for new ones, and it just searches forever. Tmobile said it's because I was behind on updates, but I updated it, and I seem to still have the same problem.

The BB is most likely locked or forbidden to work on another network other than the original network it was sold on. You require an unlock code for your specific serial number (or IMEI).

Did you ativated the phone through your provider yet? You might want to make sure that the networks you are using on your blackberry are compatible with your provider if it isn't AT&T your using.

Is it locked to Rogers?

If it is set for one service supplier it should work on that sim - I suspect its locked on another supplier - question the seller on ebay - if he is ingenuine you can always leave bad feedback.

Unlock my blackberry 7290

Like you being with T-mobile, I bought a cingular phone off ebay that wasn't unlock. My sims didn't work either. My network just said call Cingular which is now AT&T and they gave me the MEP code to unlock it. Beware, you need to confirm all of your information from your network before they will help you.
