Question about Porter Cable Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

I have a Portercable C-2001wk compressor that is leaking at the regulator knob. I do not see replacement o-rings available and have found that the complete manifold is out of stock and backordered until at least April. Any Ideas? Joe

Depending on the style of O ring, check a plumbing supply for O rings for faucets. They usually have a big case full of them.....

Air is leaking from regulator knob on my d55146 compressor. will a regulator rebuild kit fix it or do i need a hole new regulator?

Yes. A rebuild kit will include all seals and o-rings needed.
This project is best handled at a service center...Reason being that the rebuild requires making sure that all seal surfaces are a clean machine surface to properly reseat and seal..

Large red pressure adjustment knob on my compressor is broken and will not screw on, compressor will not hold pressure

You may have to replace the regulator as many of them do not sell just the knob. If you go to this link and put your model number in the search box you will be able to see what is available for it. By the way, Stanley (Bostitch) merged with DeWalt so all the breakdowns for Bostitch can be found on the same site now.

Compressor runs and sounds ok, but it only manages to show 20 lbs. It will not build air pressure and continues to run.

check air tank drain valve located on bottom of tank, if it is not leaking try adjusting air pres regulator (large black knob close to air hose connection.) the knob when turned in will increase the tank air pressure, if knob wont turn check that lock ring on bottom of knob to make sure it is disengaged. also check for air leaks in all lines and connections

Pressure builds to 150 psi but the regulator will not increase above 60 or so psi. this is causing the nail guns to not shoot correctly.

When the regulator fails, usually air will leak from under pressure knob, however in your case the nut must be stripped of its thread. May need to replace the manafold for fix(most regulators are built into manafold). To allow you to continue using the compressor, add another quickconnect at pressure release port. Let all air out of the tank. Remove pressure safety release, and install tee fitting. Re-install pressure safety on one of the ports of the tee fitting and a quickconnect at the second port. You will have tank pressure available while you order the manafold. Or just add a generic regulator before the quickconnect and forget about replacing manafold. Good luck.

Mikita 5200 air compressor leaks air

Its likely an o ring inside the valve asembely one of the knobs has an air bleed to regulate the amount of pressure between the tank and the oressure that you set to come out the hose .You should be able to disasemble by eighter unsrewing the valve all the way out or removeing the knob and loosening the nut that holds it in and replaceing the o rings that you should be able to match up at a hardware store

My knob assy (137-0001) keeps popping off and air leaks around the adjustment knob on the top of the assembly.

SOMETIMES YOU CAN TIGHTEN THE OUTSIDE OF THE REGULATOR UP A LITTLE. OR THE REGULATOR IS BAD. OR THE REGULATOR IS SEEING BACK-PRESSURE JUST AS IF IT WAS INSTALLED BACKWARDS. DO YOU HAVE IT CONNECTED TO ANOTHER COMPRESSOR DOWNSTREAM THAT COULD POSSIBLY BE A LITTLE HIGHER PRESSURE AND BLOWING BACK THRU THE REG. HOPE THIS HELPS, JODY

Wont pressure up

Most likely your portercable piston ring/seal broke. Its not hard to fix if you are mechanically inclined. See portercable site for rebuild kit.
