Try taking the audio out, (via the headphone socket or dedicated audio output socket), to a separate amplifier and speaker set. It will sound a great deal better. If it does not sound better and other games / audio CD's sound OK, then the audio track on the PC game is corrupted. Cheers
Chipmunk
Sounds From Computer Speakers My
wife had an interesting issue over the weekend. Anything she played on
her computer came through the speakers sounding like chipmunks. You've
heard the Alvin and the Chipmunks albums, that's what it sounded like.
It didnt matter if it was a Windows sound (wav file), and MP3, a WMV,
or any other multimedia. Everything sounded like a chipmunk was playing
it. The sounds were played too fast and too high pitched.
Her
computer is an Acer with a Realtek sound card built into the
motherboard. It has the Realtek HD Audio Manager built into it and I
thought at first that something had changed with the audio settings.
However, after examining the audio utility and choosing to reset the
environment back to its defaults the chipmunk sound was still present.
he
Realtek Manager also has an option for Karaoke Mode, which basically
removes the voice track when playing a song. Changing this feature had
no effect on the system.
Uninstalling and Reinstalling the
Sound Card
The
only way I found to truly fix the issue was to uninstall and reinstall
the Sound Card. Follow the directions below to accomplish this.
1) Open Device Manager by Right-clicking on My Computer and choosing
Properties. Then click on Device Manager
2)
Under the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers section, Right-click on
Realtek High Definition Audio and then click on Uninstall.
3) Close the Device Manager and Reboot your computer
4)
After the computer reboots, allow it to automatically find the Realtek
audio device on its own and reinstall the drivers. You may be required
to reboot the computer a second time after the drivers for the sound
card load.
5) Test the sound card by playing an MP3, WAV, WMA, or other sound or
by watching a video online.
The
problem should be fixed. If for some reason, you are still experiencing
a chipmunk-like sound coming from your speakers, visit the sound card
manufacturers website and download and install new drivers for the
sound card.
The speed of the sound coming out of the chip is too fast. Perhaps it was designed in Europe where the frequency of their electrical network is 50 Hz It is 60 Hz here and may speed it up unless they designed a way to calibrate it. Chances are it was not thought out that well at the design stage.
Realtek sound has an "Audio Manager" control panel thing of sorts that can be opened by right-clicking a tray icon or using a shortcut in the control panel. The audio manager features a "pitch" setting that can get changed accidentally. All you need is to located that setting and return it to zero. Young children have a talent for finding this setting and changing it without letting the adults know that they have done so! Sound familiar perchance?
the sound programmes were probably deleted i did this to an older laptop and after it was fixed in the shop i only got a chipmunk sound at best, best bring it back and ask for a recovery cd or get it fixed
Go to your sound card settings under start settings control panel, select the real tek audio then in there there should be settings on how your sound comes out of your computer make sure that it is not set on some funky audio morphing setting. Someone must have played some pranks on you but yes its total fixable with a couple strokes of the mouse. ruldss2008
I would try to update the drivers for your sound card. If there is not an update try uninstalling the driver and re-installing it again. I had this problem with my speakers recently and this worked for me. Did not have the chipmunks sound though.
Both of your problem amps were made in the '70's or earlier. It is entirely possible that the coupling capacitors are failing. This is an issue for a service center whether it is caps or something else, like failing tubes.
The good news is that installing metalized polypropelene capacitors will make those classic amps sound incredible.
I had the same problem and found this post on another site. It worked like a charm.
Dude Check It. i just fixed mine..go to the main menu and go to sound effects you will then find a area that says karaoke put that on #0 and that should fix your problem..
