How do you remove the top/front of dryer?

When i turn on the dryer it makes a humming sound but doesn't turn.
i am guessing that there is a problem with the belt. would like to see inside but i don't want to remove any unecessary parts.

Like a lot of the newer "energy efficient" models there is no longer an easy way to get to this stuff.
There are screws on the rear of the top that once removed will allow the top to slide back a little, then lifted off to expose the innards of ur machine. The front of the dryer has to be removed to gain access to the drive train. Some of these LG "laughing greatly" machines have to have the front electronic controls removed to be able to access the top screws that attach the front of ur dryer to the chassis, lucky you. Once you gain access to the screws for the front of ur unit, disconnect the door switch harness, pivot the front out slightly at the top and lift, the bottom is retained by clips. Then you can view the inner front support, rollers, belt, tensioner etc..
best of luck, and have fun,
ttfn

Whirlpool dryer won't spin

Most dyers after you pull the top up, the front should just lift a little and it should come loose, sounds like you may have the belt intact, but the motor is not conected to the belt.

Samsung dryer hums but the drum does not turn

It sounds to me like the drive belt that goes around your dryer tub has broken.

The back of the dryer will need to be removed to gain access to the problem.

Dryer is plugged in but won't turn. Only makes a humming noise like the motor is on. I took the back panel off but don't see fuses/breakers.

It sounds like the belt has come off the dryers drum that spins around. Remove the top & the front panel to see. Sears sells the belt along with a idler pulley which should be change with it too. The bearing in the pulley to make the belt break or come off when the bearing seizes up

DRUM WON'T TURN MAKES A HUMMING SOUND WHEN U TURN IT ON

Looks like you have a broken belt. What I like to do if at all possible is get that dryer outside where I can clean it up real good. I also like to check the vent82109c9.jpg and make sure it is clean. Then I like to clean all areas out where lint accumulate. I remove the filter and 2 screws at the top then I pop the top and remove the screws holding the front.80a54c2.jpg Then I raise up on the front panel to keep from breaking the clips. Get the drum out and do a good cleanup. Check the rollers and wheels and when I go to replace the belt I make sure it ain't twisted. It helps to have a partner hold the drum while you connect back the idler.3fae00c.jpg Nothing to it.

The humming is the sound of the Electric motor that drives the drum to spin

You will need to remove the top & the front panel to repair.

First just remove the TOP panel only for inspection

On the top's rear side you will see two small brackets with screws in them. The brackets attach to the Top & the rear panel to secure the top on
Remove these two screws
Now go to the front & pry each front corner up with a flat head screwdriver between the top and the front panel
Spring steel retainer snaps holds that into place and will not break when prying upward
Remove the electrical connectors and mark them with tape if wanted were they connect to for reference
Now look inside the dryer and you will see the drun and the belt should be around this drum. If not replace the belt. You will need to remove the front panel side screws to remove the front panel to remove the drum. The belt tensioner hhas a roller on it too which will need replacing.

Reverse procedure to install

Gas dryer makes loud hum

Sounds like you may have a motor issue, they can get lint trapped inside, and it causes the motor to overheat, and eventually go out. You can remove the top, then the front, and see if thats the problem. Usually, once the motor starts making noise, its time to replace. Right now, the packings in the motor are cold, and once they heat up, they stop making noise, so it could last quite a while.
