Same happened to me; turned out to be a corrupted filesystem on the camera. Solution was a bit mad - I've got linux on my PC so I used 'dd' to write zeros to the entire device ("dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb" in my case; check /proc/partitions to find what the camera has come up as). Next time the camera was turned on it sorted itself out. I used photorec first in 'brute force' mode to get the pictures off it/
Looking at the manual you don't need software to take pictures off. When you connect it to the computer it should show up as a mass storage device. So when you hook it to the computer, open up my computer and it should show it. Double click on it and go threw the folders if there are any and find the pictures. Here is the link to the website and the PDF manual is at the bottom. If i helped please leave me a rating.
We had the exact same problem. We transferred the photos off of the camera and then it went away. So possibly it is a memory full error or a card read error. I am not sure but the transfer solved the issue.
The only way I know of is to RE-upload the photos and click on the tickbox that says "delete all photos after loading". Otherwise, you will have to delete one at a time.
The software is named Photo Show Deluxe, and that link should have the link to download the software for you.
Hope your daughter enjoys her software!

I would take it back to the store where you got it. My daughter has one of these, but we never loaded the software, we just added an SD card and read the pictures from there.
