Question about Televison & Video
Loewe xelos 5270 zw. after tv has been on for maybe 10 minutes or more the tv picture becomes dark and mostly green in colour.
Well most probably the cathodes have worn out. The emission material on the surface slowly becomes inactive. Usually you see one color go first, then the others. At the same time you will observe a loss in sharpness, because a larger cathode area is being used, giving a bigger spot. Rejuvenating is done by applying a (too) high filament voltage, in order to bring new emission material to the surface. It will not work for long and there is the risk of burning the filament wire for good. You won't be able to see it without taking the back off, but your CRT (picture tube) filament is going out. You could try to wriggle the CRT Tube Socket back on a little tighter then watch it for a while again. Then again, it may also be that for some mysterious reason your VG2 voltage has dropped below spec. A too high VG2 voltage will cause a smaller cathode area to be used, leading to a sharper picture but accelerated cathode wear.
Please post comments for more help or information........

If your set is over 12 years old I would say it could be having picture tube problems. It could also have a bad component in the video drive circuit. The picture tube could be checked by a competent shop to ascertain that the tube is OK. If it is the repair of the problem causing the loss of drive should not be difficult or costly by a reputable shop. It does sound like a problem which would be beyond your capabilities. Find a reputable shop. Let me know how you make out or if I can be of any more help.
