Hello there,
the problem simply is that the lens is old and weak, cleaning it would not solve it but replacing it would be very ok.

to replace it, you look for a compatible replacement lens, then unscrew the dvd player, you would screw out the cd clipper that is above the lens, then you carefully disconnect the lens and replace it, try a dvd before screwing back to see it is working before you screw the case back on it.

Will not play dvd.- it says to check disk. On starting, the dvd chamber clicks multiple times, then it says to check disc, then it turns itself off. Thank you.

Hi
Try using a DVD/CD laser cleaning disc.It sounds like it's having trouble reading it.
Saying that with a lot of combi units sometimes the DVD drive fails down to using cheaper components to keep the price low.I guess that's the price you pay for buying two units in one.
Try cleaning the lens first though.
Good luck....

DVD goes in and tries to start twice then says "no disc". What do I do to fix it?

Just a couple of questions.

1.) How old is the DVD Player?
2.) What is the brand of DVD Player?
3.) Does it do this for all DVD's or a specific DVD?
4.) Has anything changed in the last week or so?

If the DVD player is less than a year old it most likely has a Manufacturer warranty. Also if you haven't tried already try putting another disk in the dvd player and see if it will read it. If it won't read another DVD try a CD.

Please clarify the above so that I may help you further.

Sorry this is happening I know it's frustrating.

Dvd keeps reading no disc

It can be several reasons
1. Disk is upside down
2. Lens is durty. You will need to use CD/DVD cleaning disk for that
3. Disk is having diffrent region code or recorded in diffrent formate (for instance player playback disk recorded in NTSC, and you trying to playback disk in PAL formate)
4.Disk is recorded at higher speed (for instanse player markered X16, but disk is recorded at X24)
Good Luck

Hello Thank you for choosing FixYa.com for your answers my name is David.
If it takes it a while to read sounds like one of 2 things or a combonation.
your reading lense that reads your discs may me dirty or you may have dusty
or damaged disk. most likely your machine is dirty I would go to your local store
and ask them for advice on the best type cleaning disc for the blu ray player
walmart has decent prices for that sort of thing good luck and thank you again for choosing FixYa.com
