I installed a single 256MB PC133 DIMM in my new ASUS CUSL2 motherboard. When
the system boots up, the BIOS only finds 128MB. I previously had two 128MB
PC100 memory modules installed and the BIOS correctly reported the system
memory to be 256MB. My questions are - Is there a known problem with 256MB
DIMM modules? Is there a BIOS setting to recognize the 256MB DIMM module? Is
there a jumper setting or voltage setting that would cause a problem? The
manual for this motherboard says nothing about a BIOS setting or jumper
setting for this 256MB DIMM module. My CUSL2 motherboard supports 512MB of
system memory and has three DIMM slots, but if this motherboard does not
support 256 DIMM modules, there is no way to build up to 512MB of system
memory with three 128MB DIMM modules. Can anyone shed some light and suggest
a fix to my problem?

256MB. What brand / type memory are you using? I took the memory back to
the place I purchased it and they verified that the 256MB modules reports as
128MB on their CUSL2 board also. The memory worked fine in another type
motherboard. I haven't found a solution yet. If you find one, please let me
know.

and see if the DIMM is registered. ( I don't remember what page, but there
was a diagram that showed info on your stick of memory) I had the same
problem once, and the manufacturer said that if you wanted to use a 256Mb
DIMM it had to be Registered. Good luck!

Bios settings, No
There is a jumper, the default is center and I believe that equals 3.4
(Although bios reports 3.52) (three possible settings).
I went from one 128 to one 256 and incurred no issues.
With bios 101A and bios 1002.
DIMM nearest to CPU chip.
Sorry not much help.
