Naturally, this should not happen and there is no fix for this type of a problem on a DS

If you obtained a "second hand" copy of the game (particularly from some place like eBay) then you could well have a pirated copy of the game (which are known to have problems just like this since the copies often have faulty game data)

If you purchased it from a store, take it back for a replacement (possibly after trying it on another DS just to make sure)

I solved all puzzles but did not get all furniture and painting scraps. How do I get them now? I tried going back to resolve but doesn't help.

If you've solved all the puzzles within the story then you'll have all the furniture and all the scraps

As there are more places to put furniture than furniture, some players mistakenly think that they're missing some items

Look down the right side of this walkthrough and you'll see Room indexes showing which item goes in which room
http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/

Further, if you are missing any of the items listed, just click on the item in the walkthrough's index and it will show you where to find them

You can see a picture of the completed rooms here
http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/2008/02/puzzle105.html

Similarly, if you've solved all the puzzles within the story then you'll also have all the painting scraps

Some players move the scraps around and end up hiding a scrap under another (so think they don't have all the scraps when they actually have)

You can see an illustrated step by step guide to repairing the painting here
http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/2008/02/puzzle104.html

This should help you confirm whether or not you have any missing scraps

If you are missing scraps then the Painting Scraps index down the right side of the walkthrough will show you where to find them

Another common problem is players thinking that they've solved all the puzzles when they actually haven't (usually by incorrectly assuming that if the last puzzle number in the game's puzzle index is the last puzzle, then all the puzzles must have been found and solved)

The top screen of the trunk will show you exactly how many puzzles have been both found and solved

There are 120 puzzles within the story itself and, at best, you would've unlocked two of the bonus houses (for a maximum of 126 puzzles)

If the number of puzzles solved (as shown in the top screen of the trunk) is less than you expect there to be, then you have to very carefully look through the game's puzzle index to find any missing puzzle numbers

Nothing (besides some hint coins and conversations) can be permanently missed and either you're not missing what you think you're missing or you haven't solved all 120 puzzles within the story

Game crashes when I try to go into Granny Riddleton's shop

If you purchased a "second hand" copy of the game from, say, eBay, then you could well have a pirated copy of the game (which are known to cause problems just like this)

Otherwise, return the game for a replacement as this naturally shouldn't be happening and there is no fix besides obtaining a replacement copy of the game

Puzzle Master's House won't open

You haven't solved all 132 puzzles

The game tells you (both in the trunk and in the save slot) how many puzzles you've both found and solved

Players who think they've solved all 132 puzzles usually just look in the game's puzzle list, see that the last puzzle there is 132 and mistakenly assume that they must have solved all 132 puzzles

The puzzle list only shows those puzzles that have already been found, not every puzzle

Unless the found/solved count shows 132/132, then the last puzzle house will not open

If the game says, for example, that you've only solved 131 puzzles, then you have to very carefully look through the list to find the missing puzzle number ... if you don't find it, look again (some players have had to look through the list multiple times before spotting it)

Once you have the missing puzzle number, check this walkthrough to quickly find where the puzzle is (if it's not in Granny's shack)
http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/

There's a puzzle index down the right side of the walkthrough you can click on

On a side note, this walkthrough can also be used for more puzzle solving fun, by looking at those puzzles that are specific to the other version (US/UK) of the game (there's over 180 puzzles between the versions)

Finding all 120 hidden puzzles...

When the game says that you've solved 131 puzzles, then you've solved 131 puzzles

Players forget that the puzzle index only shows the puzzles that have been found ... just because the last puzzle in the list says 132 doesn't mean that there's 132 puzzles in the list

You have to carefully look through the list to find the missing puzzle number ... if you don't find it look again (some players have had to look through the list multiple times before spotting it)

Once you have the missing puzzle number, check this walkthrough to quickly find where the puzzle is (if it's not in Granny's shack)

I've finished the game but haven't found all the puzzles

When you get to the top of the tower you have the option of going into the house or return to the village,In the village you will be able to complete Puzzles; otherwise go into Bonuses where there are Layton's challenges, & Top Secret.

I can't unlock the Golden Apple's House!!!

To open the Golden Apple House, leave Ninteno DS turned on to the end of the game and let the credits run until you are told The End. Your Nintendo will then tell you it's saving your game, when you turn Nintendo back on The Golden Apple House is waiting for you in the Bonus section.
