Generic replacement belts are available from a number of suppliers, but you need to know the dimensions of the original. My cross-reference guides for a couple of companies don't list your Sharp model so I can't give you a specific part number. You might try taking the old belt to a service shop. If they have a belt gauge they might be able to order a suitable PRB brand or equivalent replacement for you.

Doing a search for your model turned up this vendor (in Australia!) who claims to have the belt in stock. They offer international shipping, so maybe this would work for you.

Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

I have a Sharp stereo system that needs a new belt for the turn table. What size belt do I need?

Use a string to wrap around the table and pulley to get close approximation of size. Reduce number by a smidge and get that.

Where to get parts for a late 60's model Magnavox Astro-Sonic Hi-Fi Cabinet?

I might try radio shack for a belt, and if you here a motor run but table doesnt turn, that is probably what you need to replace. many of these can be lifted out of the cabinet enough to get to things

AIWA LX 70 TURNTABLE THE BELT THAT MOVES THE ARM TO THE RECORD IS BROKEN. WHERE CAN I BUY ANOTHER ONE, AND IS IT EASY TO FIT

Hi jun_tradjazz,

I have an LX 70. There are two drive belts. They are identical and of a standard size, ie., not specific to Aiwa, Quite few years ago these belts wore out on my deck. They became smooth and the pulley wheels began to slip. I was lucky that a local electronics shop in town (Belfast,NI) had spares and replaced them "off the shelf". Sadly they can't do that now.

There are specialist retailers on the net who provide all sorts of drive belts of this type. The trick is to find the spec! Perhaps, if you contact them, they might be able to match a new belt with one of the belts on your machine.

From memory, replacing the belts is fiddly, but not very difficult if you are patient and examine the mechanism carefully.

Although I now use a Rega Planar 3 with motor upgrade and a Rega Exact stylus , I still love the magic of the LX-100 and cannot bear to part with it. A beautiful piece of design with it's link to the Strathean Audio (a Belfast HI-fi company, now defuct) direct drive system that it employs.

Good luck with your search.

My Pioneer PL-112D turntable has a broken drivebelt, is it possible to buy a new one, and is there a diagram showing the belt "routing". Thanks.

I don't believe this belt is being provided by the Pioneer. So I did find another option at a reasonable price on E-bay.

My turntable sounds wavy or wobbly. Any ideas?

The belt needs replacing. Assuming it's a belt drive model! When you take off the belt, please make a note of how it fits. Measure the diameter of the belt (mm) and enter it into google as: "turntable belt ??MM". You should find it. You don't have to be precise on the diameter measurements.

Record player not working

Hi Allan,

Unfortunately it sounds like the belt either broke or is slipping. If you're up to it, you can order a replacement belt from a few different places online. As I haven't messed with a turntable in years, I can't make any personal recommendations. A quick google search returned this company, though... http://www.turntableneedles.com/

You'll need the current belt measurements before you order a replacement. And, disassembling the unit will confirm if the belt is broken or just slipping. (Or, better yet, slipped off the pulleys!)

Keep in mind that replacing the belt can be a daunting task.

Good luck!

I have a Sharp VZ 2500. The drive belt lies in pieces at the bottom of the player, so I can assume it needs replacing. I've bought the belt, but have no idea where it goes. Can you help?

you have to remove the front cover first. then detach the two wire connectors attached to the turntable circutry. Also detach the pushbutton pannel. remove the two screws that fix the top plastic cover inside the turtable housing. then the two big screws that fix the turntable to the main body will be visible. remove them and you can detach the turtable unit out. then remove the circuit board behind the turntable. you can then put the belt between the big disc and the motor pulley on the corner. Good luck

Need instructions and tips for finding parts for an old turntable model # sg-h10 in dallas tx. may need replacement needle as well as belt.

Hi

Can you give me the make of the unit as well, we can do some searches aobut the place to see what can be found. Belts are generally not an issue as they can be fitted to suit the turntable. The stylus can be identified by often the shape and colour of it. Do you have the old one still? I have ID charts that can be used to match it up.

some models have a hole(s) in the turntable under the mat. You can put your fingers through the holes in the turntable to fix the belt into position. Good Luck.
