Http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/altchrc.html <--- that link should come in very handy for many people who read this, you can work around holding shift then hitting the 3 key for get #, as you can see you hit Num Lock then Alt and 35 on the ten key pad at the right to get the same character, give it a try it's fun and useful. If Num Lock won't work then try Alt + 35 and see if that does the trick.

Hi i cant get the at @ sign on the acer iconia tab w500

Hi, On most key boards the shift key and the 2 button make the @ sign. Look where the @ sign is on your key board. You might be looking for a new key board. What do you have above the 2 ?
In the Fonts you maybe able to change to the @ sign. Good luck.

Hold down the ALT(ernate) GR(aphic) key -- to the right of the SPACE BAR on your keyboard.
Press the '2' key.
Release the '2' key.
Release the ALT GR key.
Does an '@' display?

Check that you are using the "American English" keyboard mapping.
Control Panel -> Regional options.

Key board problem

It would seem that the keyboard may be defective. It is a fairly standard keyboard layout, so SHIFT-2 should produce the @ sign. It looks to be a fairly cheap fix:

THE KB BOARD NEEDS TO BE SERVICED, BY REMOVING THE SCREWS OR SNAP CLIPS THAT HOLD THE KB TOGETHER, CLEAN THE CURCIUT BOARD OR PLASTIC FILM WITH SOME ACOLAHOL AND LENT FREE TOWEL,
USE A CAN OF COMPRESSED AIR TO REMOVE THE DIRT FROM THE KEY SWITCHS.
PUT IT BACK TOGETHER,

GO INGO CONTROL PANEL OPEN DEVICE MANAGER, GO DOWN TO KEYBOARD AND CHECK FOR ANY TYPE OF UPDATES OR AND CHANGES TO THE PROGRAM.

IF YOU CAN FIND THE KEYBOARD TEST THAN TEST THE KEYBOARD TO MAKE SURE ALL KEYS ARE WORKING PROPERLY.
