Turn iphone off. Power on holding power and home at same time for 10
seconds, then release power button but hold home for another 30 seconds.
Screen will stay blank but should be in DFU recovery mode. Plug into
iTunes and recover.
I had the same problem, the face plates comes off by sticking your finger nail under the little notch under the garmin symbol and pich off the thin face plate, there is a reset button under the face plate in the middle of the right hand side of the edge of the face plate( visible when the face plate is dislodged. I held the button in for a second or two, you can feel the button recess as you push down on it) and the unit resets without disturbing the existing programed route
I am not sure if you have solved this problem but i had the same problem. On the bottom of the unit by the power supply input there is a reset button. You will need a paper clip to reach it. Depress the button and then turn the unit on. I had to do this 2 times before it took. Everything working fine now.
push and Hold the power button down while you push reset, keep power button pressed til it boots again. If it does not, and it's in warranty ship it to garmin. If it's out of warranty, have someone open it up and remove the battery for a couple of minutes.
sounds like the firmware is corrupted, you could try a firmware flash, but i would suggest sending it back to symbol and they will replace its mainboard
