I have tried this and was hoping for some more help. When I did the restore it went through everything fine. When the computer restarted it started to load the enet management software,(I think is waht it was doing) and it gets to 15/16 and stalls there. I left it alone and it stayed at that spot for 12 hours. i also tried to do the restore again using the start-programs-acer erecovery but it wont pull up cause its still trying to load. I didn't get any recovery cd with this computer an tried to buy it from acer but its not available anymore. Just wondering if you have any other ideas about the restore, if I could bypass somethin or if you might know of a site that would have the cd for purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Laptop computers can be wonderful devices, except when the need to troubleshoot arises. Acer laptops are no different. A quick way to fix many problems with an Acer laptop running Windows is to reset it to factory settings. Resetting your Acer laptop to factory settings can eliminate slow operation, registry problems, virus problems and spyware issues. What's more, a factory reset of your laptop may reduce the need for a full reinstallation of Windows.

Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop. Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer. Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop. Press "Alt-F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot-up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files. Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window. Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration. Click "OK" in the notice window to proceed with resetting your Acer laptop. Wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

How do i reset my acer aspire to its factory settings

Hi and Welcome to Fixya!

To restore your machine back to the factory settings, just follow the simple step mentioned below. Be sure that you've backed up your personal files though before doing this because resetting your machine will wipre out any changes you have made on the machine.

For an Acer machine, just press Alt+F10 when you boot up the laptop. You will see Acer Recovery Management, select "restore system to factory default settings" then follow the on-screen instructions and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps!

Hi Fentylfc,

  • Click "Start" menu.

  • Click "Programs."

  • Click "Acer Recovery Management."
  • Click the "Restore" button on the bottom of the dialog box that opens.
  • Click "Restore System to Factory Default."
  • Click "Yes" in the warning dialog box which asks if you wish to continue the recovery process.

    Restore to factory setting

If you want to completely reset it back to the original windows settings you must re-format your computer. This won't put the original programs back on it that you had before, but it will give your computer a COMPLETE reset. Meaning also that if you want to keep some data you must put it on some external drive because your hard drive will be completely overwritten.

If you want to get it back to just the factory settings, you could try to contact their customer services if they don't anything on their site to help you, although I would not recommend it. Factory settings aren't the best because they usually put stuff on your computer that you don't really want. Re-formatting is the best thing to do.
