Question about Electrolux Refrigerators

1 Answer

My father has an Electrlux ER 78311 fridge/freezer. It started icing up inside fridge and top of freezer. After we deiced it, it stopped working altogether. Still makes a noise as though it's working. Ventilation around it looked poor. Is it worth fixing? Can I do something simple to fix it myself perhaps? Thank you. Frank

Did you deice totally or just the ice you saw. To properly deice the freezer section you have to remove the panel on the back of the freezer section and using a hair dryer remove all frost build up on the evap. coils. The most common cause of this problem in these models is the defrost t-stat going bad. Install a new defrost t-stat located on the coils and you will be good to go again. Hope this helps.

What does ER FF mean on my Kenmore Elite bottom

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error ff is freezer fan fault. This usually happens when either the rear board has gone bad or the freezer fan itself is bad and needs to be replaced. To check what is causing the error you can start with checking the fan which is located behind the back wall inside the freezer. Also check the rear board as it might not be putting the fridge into defrost long enough and is causing the ice to build up in the freezer and thus stopping the freezer fan from turning and so causing ff error. Leave the fridge unplugged for 24hrs which will melt all the ice then plug it back if still the issue is not resolved and you hear the fan running then it is the rear board that needs to be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

We have replaced our G.E. side by side refrigerator mother board ,it did fix the problem with the ice maker and water not working ,a week later ,the ice started to build up agian and fridge is not getting...

The bdefrost heater behind the wall inside the freezer is bad if the ice you have is on the back wall of the freezer. Remove the back wall and deice the coils and replace heater. wr51x10101

Freezer fan keeps icing up

Sounds like the refrigerator is not defrosting Could be the defrost heater, defrost timer or the defrost thermostat.

Coils inside freezer keep icing up.

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, ie defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model of fridge)

Water leaking inside of the fridge from the top

It sounds like your frost-free freezer is cycling through its normal defrost mode, which allows the cooling assy. to be deiced and that melted ice (water) will run out and down to the drain in the bottom of your fridge.

Error message on fridge "er ff"

Error code Er FF indicates that the evaporator fan has failed, or at least is not sending a signal to the electronic controls. Open the door and see if the evaporator fan is running inside the freezer compartment. If that fan stops, then no cold air will be sent to the refrigerator compartment and it will warm up. Possible causes include bad motor, bad connection, bad electronics.
