Bad connection between laptop and lcd projector

When I connect an lcd projector to my laptop, the picture on the laptop itself is fine, but the one on the lcd display is fuzzy at best and sometimes blanks out giving a "searching" message. If I wiggle the connection on the laptop I can usually bring up the lcd display again, but the picture quality is poor.

I am using an LCD projector Epson and keeps on breaking down. supplier will insist that PC is causing the damage. Is there a posbility that incomplete connections in the cabling will cause breakdown, missing grounding maybe in Hor-vert sync? Or can it really be the PC? The PC normally sends video/sync signals only. I dont know if it sends a destructive signal to the LCD cpu to get damaged.

you can try to set your laptop resolution to the lowest and see if your LCD will work normal. as what cramsvik said, the fact you got your LCD functioning when you wiggle your conections, that is a sign of bad contact. But not in all cases, when you sometime lossen your contacts like in your horizontal-vertical sync, it could trigger a signal to your LCD to show image but eratic. Could also be your sync signal that's why reducing the resolution lower will probably help. set your monitor display setting frequency to lowest too.

First, check all plugs and make sure there are no broken or bent pins in them. If the projector you are using have a replacable cable try to replace it to see if the cable is the problem. (borrow a cable from a friend or relative first so you don't buy one if it is not needed.)

If that doesn't fix it, try to connect a different computer to your projector to see if that is better. If so, the output port on your computer may be bad.

Also try to hook your compuber to a different monitor to see if that works. If no computers are able to make a good picture on your monitor, the monitor is at fault.

The fact that you can change the picture quality by wiggling the cable, and that it starts to search for a signal suggests that the cable or the plugs are at fault, but having the wrong resolution set up on your computer may also affect the image quality. Again, try to use a different computer as a source to eliminate (or confirm) your computer being the problem.

Hi

Sure can be fixed.

1st of all you need to connect the projector with your laptop turned off. One the laptop has finished booting and loading windows. Hit the Fn+f4 or f7 key to switch between the displays then you will get the display.

But if this also does not give display then you can check with the projector with Video INPUTS (Eg. Input 1 / Input 2 etc.,)

Disconnect the cable that is connecting the laptop to the projector. Sometimes this will happen if the projector or device you're connecting your laptop to does not support the current resolution that the laptop is displaying. Reconnect the cable and try using Function F4. If that does not work then disconnect the cable from laptop to projector, reboot the laptop then repeat connecting it to the projector and pressing Function F4.

I can't get a picture when I hook my projector up to my laptop.

HELLO,

If your LCD or DLP projector displays no image, this could be a variety of problems. First, check that the projector has power. On the top of the LCD or DLP projector should be some lights. With power, those lights will be on. If it has power, check to make sure that the projector lamp is firing. If so, go to the source. Make sure that it is connected with a VGA cable or USB cable to your computer, or with an RGB cable, S-Video cable or DVI connection to your VCR/DVD Player. From a laptop computer, the VGA cable should be connected to the VGA out connection, and into the VGA in connection on the projector. Are both ends tight?

If everything has checked out so far, the solution probably lies with the external monitor port. Check this by holding the Fn key on the keyboard, then press the F7 key. (On some computers, the key might be F5 or F3. Try these if F7 doesn't work) Each time you press the Fn / F7 combination, you will cycle your display through the following settings:

* Press Fn / F7 once: The laptop screen only
* Press Fn / F7 twice: The projector port only
* Press Fn / F7 three times: Both the laptop and projector port
* Wait a few seconds after each time you press the key combination to let the LCD or DLP projector refresh. Nine times out of ten this will result in seeing your projected image.

Hope this helpout....

LCD VGA Display goes on and off.

Check refresh rate and setting for external display output. It won't work with unsuitable screen resolution, color depth or refresh rate. Check all three points and I believe you can troubleshoot the problem this way.

The backlight may have died. LCD monitors work by shining a light through the active diodes.

The projector needs to be turned on first, then connect it to the laptop. If the picture still does not show at that point, press the FN and the LCD keys on your laptop at the same time. This should work.

Got a light but nothing else

It seems, so the main LCD has been crashed, or not get power, or something else. The changing colours means, i think, the lcd get one picture, but then nothing. So, see the cables, inside the projector too, and see the lcd, perhaps you will find some problems. i hope, that help you.. DOMy
