Question about Nikon D40 Digital Camera with G-II 18-55mm Lens

1 Answer

FOLDER CONTAINS NO IMAGES.

Recently, there is a problem with my DSLR Nikon D40x camera. It seems like the camera unable to process the image which was captured and the file for the image wasn't save in the memory card. Hence, i've try to capture any image without the memory card inserted and the setting for 'No memory card' has been set to 'OK' as shutter can be released and the image will be shown but not recorded in the memory card. With this method, the image should appear on the camera's screen but there is still no image displayed after shooting.(Image review has been set to 'ON')

By the solution which posted for this problem, i've used another memory card but the camera still unable to capture the image after shooting.

What could be wrong if there is no problem with the memory card instead? Thanks in advance.

You can try to reformat the sd card. Sometimes cards will contain data that disrupts the reading process.
Also, sometimes if you edit images on the pc, such as rotating them in Window's image viewer, it will rewrite the image as a jpeg that is unrecognized in the camera.
Lastly, check to see if the photos are being saved to the sd card or the camera.

Slow down your shooting. The "R11" indicates that you can take 11 more images before the buffer is full and the camera will stop functioning until the images are moved to the memory card.
Select a smaller file size. Nikon cameras allow you to select from several sizes of JPEG as well as a RAW and a RAW + JPEG file. These files vary in size. If you select a smaller file size, the buffer will take longer to fill, allowing you to shoot longerTurn off long exposure noise reduction. This function causes the camera to expose twice for every image, and this can fill up the buffer quickly as those images are processed and written to the card.

Can D40X do double exposure on a single frame

The D40x does not have this facility.

All you can do is to combine two exposures in your processing software; it's best controlled by combining two or more RAW images.

You have to take the sd card out and load in in an sd card reader. Then just write it into the video or to the DCIM folder if a picture. You cannot load through the Nikon interface.

Cannot take pictures thru lcd screen on d40x DSLR

The D40x is not capable of Liveview - i.e. looking at the LCD to take a picture. You are mistaken.
If you want Liveview, you need to buy the D3 or D300 cameras. The D40x is an entry-level camera.

Out of Memory on Card, but also says: Memory contains no images

I think you may have deleted the folders from your memory card.  The camera could be looking for the folder to put the photo into, and this error comes up instead of one about the folder.

From main menu, pick menu with wrench icon, make sure USB is set to "M" mass storage mode. In same menu there is an option for "Folders" to pick which folder to take images from, make sure this is the same as the folder where your images are. Remember that in mass storage mode you can browse the images on the camera as if they were a drive, in windows explorer. You can cut-paste images from camera drive to any folder on your computer.

Can you write your pics to a CD then take that for printing. I have had same probs with CF cards in my Nikon 8700, any editing of the card can, but not always, prevent the images being found.
