You will need to access the setup page of the belkin router.

In a web browser's address bar, type 192.168.2.1.

By default, the password is blank. If it did not work, you will need to reset the router. Take note that when you reset the router, everything will go back to default, so you will need to reconfigure the internet settings on the router. You need to know the internet settings from your ISP.

Go to the Wireless tab, then select Security. Then copy the WEP key.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

If you cannot remember the Belkin's configuration login and password, you can reset the Belkin back to the factory default. Power up the Belkin and press and hold the RESET button for 7 secs the login password is blank, just press Enter.

Most routers have a small hole at the back, or side,, or somewhere... that you can poke a small diam. wire , a paper clip is ideal, or the tip of a fine pen, and push it in... This will "Reset" the Router back to "Factory Specs" Then you will be able to Logon again as the "Default" and from there you can re-setup your router. This time write down all your settings... or better still back them up to your PC.

There is a very tiny, tiny hole in the back that says reset, hold it for 5 to 10 sec, should return it to factory specs

Where is the network security key

The network security key is set by the user when the home network is setup. It prevents people from stealing your wireless signal. If you have forgot it, or didn't set it up but it still is asking for one, you can unplug and hit the reset button on your router and delete the home network you have on your main computer. From there, just run the network setup wizard from the main pc and set your network security key to something you can remember as well as write it down. Then you should be set to add any other pc to your home network as long as when you try to connect, you put the correct key in.

I cannot connect to the internet with my wireless router MSI RG60SE. I keep getting an error and to insert a security key. How can i get this security key?

Hi,

You need to access the router and look for the network key. For you to access your router you need to type 192.168.1.1 to he address bar of your browser and it will ask you for a username and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is admin. Go to the router settings page and check the Network Key (Security Key). You can also personalize the network key for you to easily remember it.

We keep losing connection to internet when playing xbox 360 live. will be playing and screen freezes up for 15 to30 seconds then kicks us from xbox live.have a router with 3 xboxs hooked up.its unsecured...

If it's unsecured, there is a possibility that other people nearby are logging on to your internet connection through your open router. The more connections through the router, the slower it becomes. And the Xbox will drop is the connection becomes too slow.

As for a better answer as to why your losing your connection, try relocating the router. Often moving it higher up will allow a better signal. Other times a wall or shelf which contain metal objects is the cause. The signal weakens as it passes through construction materials, and nearby metal objects will definitely cause signal degradation. Try moving the router, sometimes only a foot or two is sufficient.

You should definitely learn the process to secure your router. It's like connecting your computer with a network cable to all of your neighbors computers and inviting them to see what you have stored on your machine. If their computer savvy, they can even watch what your doing in real time and even activate your camera and microphone! (It's been known to happen).

Securing the router involves the use of a network key (think of this as a password). Most modern routers have the default password printed on the body of the router. Using a special program installed when you installed the router, you can access the router and set the password. For example I use a Netgear router and the program that it installs is called "Netgear Genie". You access the router through the program using the routers user name and password (default as shipped is usually "admin" for both. Then set up the router to use security. After this all of your devices you authorize to connect to this router will also need to use the same Network Key (password). It's actually an easy process. For example, after you set the security, the labtop will attempt to connect and finding the system secured, ask you to enter the "network key" or password, to allow it to connect. It should ask you to remember this password so it can connect without assistance in the future

If your still uncertain, try running the router's setup program again. Most are designed to walk you through the process quickly. Just remember that all your devices will need to use the same password, the one that is printed on the side or bottom of the router. Usually it's something silly like "wonderfulwater456879" or whatever. Good luck and be more careful with your data in the future.

I am trying to connect a 2nd laptop to my Belkin Wireless router but cant remember the security key I am being asked for!

what you can do is connect with a cable from one computer to the router, access the settings page (with the address on the label.. 192.168.etc.etc) in your browser and change the password. if you are not able to do that because it may ask you for another password (setup password) then you can go ahead and reset the router; there should be a tiny button on the back that you have to press for about 10 seconds the only thing is that it will erase your settings and you would have to reconfigure it all the way

Can't remember my pin number

Are you trying to connect to the wireless network
on a WINDOWS VISTA / 7 computer? Sometimes on the
windows vista computer , it will ask you for the
PIN number when you try to connect to the wireless
network. On the same window at the bottom you will
find the option " I want to connect to the network
or I want to enter the key manually". If you click
on that option , it will ask you for the security
key.
If you don't know the security key, then you will
need to check the settings of the router. You will
need to open the router set up page where you can
check all the wireless settings of teh router. If
you want, you can also find the PIN on the wireless
settings page of the router.

and network

Cant put a lcok on my smc router

Manual for WBR14-G2 router [6.2 MB] in pdf format:
http://www.smc.com/files/AG/MN_SMCWBR14-G2.pdf

Keeping others from connecting to your router:
1. Have an "wired only" router login access or for this router "change and disable your SSID". This way you avoid that others can login to
to the router changing your settings: See page 48 of the manual.
1.1 Wireless Network Name (SSID): change the default name SMC
to "any private name" ( and remember for later login )
1.2 Broadcast Wireless Network Name: change from default ENABLE
to DISABLE .

2. Make a secure wireless encryption key for your connection:
see page 87.
2.1 For most secure key select WPA / WPA2 only and SAVE SETTINGS .
2.2 See page 91 for entering and saving your secure key: the password
that must be entered to get access to the router.
