Have you installed the software from the cd, before you connected it to your lan. you will need to do that first, your computer should find it then.

I can't tell which router is mine

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on thislink and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I have a iomega screen director 1TB. I can connect to windows 7 from a desktop usb to iomega. However i cannot access iomega wireless or wired in lan network. Pls help..Tyrone

Make sure you are disconnecting the USB from your computer before you try to access it.
WIFI - If you have 128-bit encryption, you will have to change it to wpa-psk or wep 64-bit.
Wired - Check your network setting on the device. Make sure that it is getting an IP address from your router or switch. If you keep getting an APIPA address, try manually configuring the IP to your subnet.

I have a linksys router and my IP address is 192.168.1.1 how can I locate my passowrd/WEP?

The Linksys configuration URL is http://192.168.1.1 and if you cannot Login or remember the password then you can reset the router back to the factory defaults by -
Power up the Linksys and pressing and holding the pinhole reset button at the back of the Linksys for 30 secs. The router will restart.
Username Login = admin
Password = admin
You can now change the admin password and configure the wireless settings ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption etc.
Don't forget to configure the wireless card in your computer with the router's wireless dettings so the computer can connect to the Linksys.

Lost wireless signal

Check the WLAN light on the Linksys Router if it's still on and make sure that the Wireless Adapter is ON on your HP computer and can detect other wireless networks, if WLAN is off try to do a power cycle and check again the lights... If lights are ok... connect your PC to the LAN port of the router and access the admin page, try changing channels and see if your wireless computer can detect it, if still not try to do a hard reset on the router

Wireless router connection problems

Assuming "cannot connect to linksys router directly" means you cannot connect to a Wireless Lan managed by Linksys router,
1) try to connect new computer to LinkSys Router using a Lan cable, add new PC to your network.
2) recover protocol (WEP or WPA) and Key of WLAN (Passphrase or Key: TKIP or AES) either from other PC on same network either from your Router.
3) If you missed actual key you must connect to router and reset it to a new key to be eventually used for every connected device.
Call for detail on this possibility

Will a computer with 10/10 LAN connect to my wireless LAN?

The 10/100 LAN is a wired connection. If it is connected to the wrt54g through an ethernet cable yes it will see anything on the wireless connection but if you want the computer to use a wireless connection then you will need to get an 802.11B or 802.11G wireless adapter. The wireless adapter does not have to be Linksys but it does generally make thing easier if you use all the same brand.

Home networking.

do you have a pci network adapter intalled with the proper drivers ? did you plug in ethernet cable directly into current pci lan card it will be located on lower part of back of computer? this will eliminate the problems with the router just to see if pci lancard is working or not . if the lan card is working unplug cable and plug in router and then try with router plugged in u might need to reset the router in order for it to work with lan card . if ur using and onboard lan eg attached to the motherboard then you must go into computer bios and enable onboard lan and then the ethernet cable should work with no problem good luck i hope this helps you get up and going getback to me if there are future problems.

FAILURE TO CONNECT TO WEB SEVER @ 192.168.1.1

I am assuming for discussion the following connections of the routers. I am also assuming subnet masks of 255.255.255.0 on both networks. The WAN side of the HN7000 conforms to the requirements of the ISP. The HN7000 has it lan side address set to 192.168.0.1 connected between the ISP to the WAN port and the Linksys from a LAN port to the Linksys's WAN Port. What is the WAN side address of the Linksys? -- It should be either be static 192.168.0.? unique and not in the DHCP range of the HN7000 or should be dynamic. If you utilize DHCP it should be enabled for both routers. The LAN side of the linksys router is 192.168.1.1. If the addresses are set up as stated and the routers are either as described or reversed.

Can you access the internet from the HN7000 by wire?

Can you access the internet from the Linksys reliably?

If either of those two are not true assure the DNS servers are established in the routers for DHCP or in the network adapters if that is preferred -- redo the test above and assure access from both networks is possible using wired computers. Attempt to configure the both routers from a computer wired to each router -- attempt to open configuration 2 times on each router and one time each from both wired machine -- record what works and what doesn't.

I would not be surprised in this configuration that the linksys could only be configured from the a device attached to it. But the HN7000 could be configured from a connection to either router.

Test the wireless connections to the internet as appropriate.

When done report any issues in a comment to this problem and I will assist in determining steps to correct issues. OK?
