No sound after installation on a kenwood kdc 30-11

What would cause no sound after installation.wiring is correct.is there a security code or something along that line?

Wellllll the most common cause of no sound it that there is a factory amplifier in the vehicle that is not turning on with the radio.. this is done by using the remote turn on wire from the aftermarket deck. or it could be a blown speaker that is shorting out the amp in the deck

If you have it wired up correctly you will still need the security code. Getting that from Kenwood if you don't have it is like trying to drink an ocean with a shot glass.

i think the security code on most kenwoods is KCAR. you have to enter the code from the remote control though.

it sounds like you have a short on two of your speaker wires just connecy front speakers and try then rear then left then right to prove which one or ones

Security


"Protect" isn't for security on a Kenwood; it's caused by a problem with the speaker output. There may be a defect in the CD player, or you may have a blown speaker or a shorted speaker wire in the vehicle. Try disconnecting all the speakers and see if the unit still shows "protect" when you turn it on. If it still shows the "protect" message with no speakers connected, the unit needs to be serviced; if not, re-connect the speakers one at a time until you find out which one is causing the problem.
