Question about Audio Players & Recorders
When resetting of the TH1702 doesn't help, a firmware reinstallation may be required.
Before performing the firmware update make a backup of the player's content to your computer, to have it preserved.

Continue with Select Software Updates.
Click the bar TH1702 Downloads and select Download Here to enter the download page of Audiovox, Customer Support.

This isnt really recommended and it might seem harsh But after months of frustration I lightly tapped the end on the table and a please wait popped up and havent had any problems since WOOHOO!!!!

I got mine to work this way:
(1) remove the battery, wait 10 seconds and reinstall.
(2) Press down the power button WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE PLAY?PAUSE button.
Worked for me.
